The site comprises a ruined church built around 1693 which was abandoned after flooding in 1833. It is surrounded by lovely gardens and trees which are very well cared for. There are some brief explanations of its history in Spanish and English.

A lovely stop when discovering the Orosi valley, the ruins are one of the few remnants of the Spanish presence in Costa Rica. Restful, green, some amazing trees, happy families & a trickling stream- what more could you want on a lazy Sunday afternoon?!
We went here to visit this nice historic church ruine. One of the very few in Costa Rica. It is a very nice park close to San Jose (one hour Car trip). This is a good place for a family picnic and take good pictures.
