Fun place to walk through and see and hear downtown San Jose (Claro ... Kolbi .... Movistar). There are some folks taking your picture with Mexican sombreros or pigeons. Also a few mimes. Not a lot to do, but worth a walk through.

It's okay surroundings. You have to go and visit and maybe some people will enjoy people watching and seeing how CR people interact. However i disliked all the birds and it's a bit dirty.

Lots of activity here from morning until night. Tourist and city dwellers mix throughout the day, many feed pigeons, often there are street performers. The theatre and museums are right there, American fast food and Tico options are steps away.

Nice place to check out in down town San Jose. It is full of life and culture the down town core. Everything is pretty much free and you can browse all the shops nearby.

This was a okay stop in San Jose, it is surrounded by busy city life, a gathering place for tourists. We enjoyed it although in Costa Rica, it was not a place we'd re-visit.

This is a place you feel with your heart. I'm sad for people who can only see "dirty" or "too many pigeons and vendors". This place isn't here for tourist enjoyment, it's the center of a large metropolitan city and meeting place for its people....More

I had expected the Plaza de la Cultura to have something, anything, to justify it's claim to somehow represent culture. True, there are some museums (Oro, etc) underneath the plaza, with an entrance you could easily mistake for a parking garage (see photo) and to...More

This is the spot to people watch in San Jose. Street performers, marketing events, illegal street merchants and tourists abound. Just look for a bench or a ledge to sit on and enjoy the evening. And should you have the itch to burn your cash,...More

This is the capital's center. You can always see people hanging around mostly teens. You have to be careful though as robbers are scattered around specially if you're a foreigner. It is however relatively safe at daytime. I really haven't hang-out here at late night...More
