The Jade Museum and of precolumbian culture is positioned as an innovative state-of-the-art cultural proposal in the protection and conservation of archaeological heritage in Central America. Located in the center of Costa Rics's capital, the building was especially constructed to house the museum's collection, its architecture evoking a cut jade block. Its five levels exhibit objects crafted by artisans specialized in solving their daily subsistence needs, their spiritual and political world.

Probably one of the most well presented and large collection of this kind that I've seen. Lots to see and there's little places to sit scattered through the exhibits.

For $15, I think I expected a bit more... jade. The museum is well laid out, but I felt mush of it duplicated the Pre-Columbia’s Gold Museum - a visit to one or the other is probably all that is warranted.

Challenging if you don't read Spanish and you venture to the upper floors. Second floor has translation. Worth a visit.

Went here while in San Jose for a vacation. It was cheap admission, and was huge. There’s five floors of Jade and other artifacts to look at and explore. There’s a lot of interactive touch screens and such to guide you through each exhibit. Definitely...More

A very well laid out interesting museum. Five floors and lots besides jade. I expected more big jade pieces but apparently the jade in Costa Rica came from elsewhere

The museum is definitely well done and tries to make the topic Jade as interesting as possible. It is very large and after some time it gets boring because information is repeated over and over again. 15 Dollar entrance per person is a lot and...More

Very cool displays on 5 floors. Jade and pre Columbia artifacts. English placards helpful. Some of it repetitive but interesting. Well air conditioned,

Great musuem in lots of ways. Four floors of things to see. I found it expensive but not a ripoff. Lots to see and you should plan at least two hours here.

Tons of Jade and some great history of Costa Rica. I personally enjoyed it, however other travelers i met who had been thought it was overpriced for the content. Great displays about the original inhabitants of Costa Rica.

Yes you may. They have a very small souvenir shop. I found the prices to be a bit high, but that seems to be standard at museums.
