Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This site is an easy walk from almost anywhere in Puntarenas. The inside of the cathedral is a bit barren, but very peaceful. It is very clean, relaxing, and cool!

We attended Mass at the cathedral & loved seeing how this is an integral part of the community. The church building is simple, yet beautiful.

This church has an interesting facade and faces a small park and plaza. Benches provide some respite from sun and heat. The adjacent plaza now features several interesting statues. The peninsula is small and this location is an easy walk.

We stopped in Puntarenas on one our our ports of call on our Viking cruise through the Panama Canal this past January. The beach and the village are both unimpressive. The cathedral is the nicest thing in town.

A very peaceful church in the heart of Puntarenas. The high ceiling building provides a cooler area from the intense heat outside. Quite plain inside with bright stained glass windows. When we visited there was a wedding taking place. It was lovely to sit at the back of the church to watch.
The church is in a pleasant square with a small gardened area with statues. There aren't any real buildings of interest in Puntarenas so a visit to the church is worthwhile.

This cathedral in Puntarenas is one of the best restored buildings we say in Puntarenas. The inside is not lavish but the church bells were pretty to hear. The grounds are also pretty and wide open - worth walking by if you're in Puntarenas

We stopped here briefly when going from the ship on our Tom Thumb Tour and it was full of history . Nice leaded windows and can be found on the street just back from the Beach.

This is a lovely old church, cool, quiet and peaceful. If you are in the viscinity it is well worth a visit for this, and the classical architecture.

If you are doing a tour of Caldera and Puntarenas then you will most likely go along the front of the beach. In Puntarenas, just a street or so back from the beach there is a beautiful little church. I don't quite know how it gets called a Cathedral but you should get your tour guide to stop and take a look inside. It sits is nice grounds and is clearly an integral part of the local community. You might not stay long but don't pass it up if you are here.
