We recently cruised through the Panama Canal, & Puntarenas,Costa Rica was one of the port stops. After researching several options for touring for the day,we chose Arenas Travel. Ronald was an exceptional English speaking driver and host. His knowledge made our day enjoyable and safe. He was especially considerate to the specific areas that we wanted to concentrate on. We... Puerto Caldera, Puntarenas, Costa Rica has the most beautiful rainforest. Tours to walk in the cloud forest are simply awesome. You will see local wildlife, butterflies and hummingbirds. The sounds and smells are simply the best. Tour guides are very knowledgeable. The walking is a little tough, but the sites make up for the walking!

Our guide Charlie and driver Carlos were the perfect combo for our first landing in Costa Rica. We did not use our ship's tour, but walked off and connected with them dockside. Their van was newer, with comfortable A/C and Wi-Fi. Charlie had excellent knowledge of the Puntarenas area and combined our land tour with a crocodile Tarcoles River boat... More

There was a group of 12 of us that went on a few tours set up by Victor and Greivin. It was absolutely remarkable! . We did the Tortuga Island and the monkey and crocodile tour. They were so friendly and helpful. We were able to hold and feed the monkeys which was way awesome. When we return to Costa... More

We left NCL for a private tour with Johnny Murillo. He gave us Ana as our private tour guide. She was great. We were able to see Puntarenas and learn the history of their country. We even enjoyed a lunch which was included in this tour. The food was delicious. I highly recommend this private tour. Johnny was waiting for... More

While in Puntarenas Costa Rica, we were not sure about taking a tour until we met Ricky Ricardo. He took us on what was supposed to be a 3 1/2 hour tour that went over 4 hours. We visited places that were not even available off the ships tours. Ricky not only showed us the monkeys he stopped purchased some... More

Christian Madrigal Arroyo is by far the best naturalist guide on the island. Not only does he know the common names for the flora and fauna but he also knows the Latin names and classifications. We engaged Christian for our first excuration and were so happy we requested him for the next 3 trips. His knowledge reminded me of being... More

We had a great tour, it started off on the Pacific Train which has been in service for 50yrs, it has been restored and is absolutely beautiful, although no air conditioning, the windows provided good breezes. It was great to see the country side and the families who waved as we went by. We then got met by our coach... More

The idea of walking on hanging bridges through a rainforest jungle was exotic. In reality, all we saw was thousands of trees and several busy ants on the ground. The guide was in such a rush to get us across the bridges before the next tour came behind us, that we were making constant noise and movement. It was no... More
