The best reason to hike in the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is to find a large variety of exotic tropical birds and other wildlife and gorgeous plant life! And if you include all the trails you will get to see this absolutely beautiful little waterfall, San Luis.

Beautiful waterfall but not so big, it's just that is is the only one in the park. Well organized for photo there.

Lovely hike through the cloud forest leading down to the base of a waterfall. Hike is moderately strenuous and slippery in some places. Benches are provided along the way.

We arrived late in the day and were worried we wouldn't have enough time. The descent in and the "swim" at the falls were short compared to the hike out. My nephew counted something like 440 steps. The last 100 were just a little tough for this "old" man. That said the falls are spectacular, and the rocks around the... More

We visited on December 5. A really nice waterfall. The walk was pleasant and didn't seem too stressful. A few hills and valleys. Highly recommended if in the area

San Luis waterfall is a short distance up the walking trail inside the Monteverde cloud forest. Spectacular scene and the first time I have seen the Glass Butterfly. Many different birds, flora and eco systems reside in the area. A must see and choose a competent guide such as Roy Porras who is associated with Rainbow Valley Lodge in Santa... More

Be careful because it was a bit slippery, but it was the rainy season. Worth the hike and you get to see some gorgeous birds while out there as well.

if you like hiking, to be surrounded of nature, this is the place.!! You will find yourself totally surrounded of a cloud forest, you can check on the waterfall which is really nice. Take several trails around the reserve and just let you go in such a beautiful environment. Check on animals from the specific forest.

Great waterfall, but not an easy hike if you're not in the best shape!! Going down was easy, but the hike back up is no joke.

I am understanding from those that live in the area that these falls have been closed due to a death on the trail. A biologist pushed her students out of the way of falling boulder and was hit.
