We stumbled upon Neo Fauna walking the river from Hotel Pumilio. What an amazing find - frogs, butterflies, birds, snakes, turtles... this place had it all, and for only $20 per person. Highly recommended.

Really off the beaten track - even our taxi driver had never been there. The facility is a bit run down but the tour guide was knowledgeable and informative and the modest collection of local flora and fauna was fascinating. It is not a capital-intensive place like other butterfly farms we've visited (e.g. in Aruba); but - it was charming... More

We visited this place today and I can't understand how people can write good reviews for this place. It is very amateurish with several cages put together and some frogs and snakes thrown. I personally doubt their claim that they rescue animals or release them back to the wild. They will open the cages for you to take pictures and... More

We were referred to Randall of Neofauna Eco Tours by the property manager at the condo complex we were staying at. This was one of the best recommendations we could have ever received. Randall was awesome!!! We set up a horseback riding trip to the waterfalls near Jaco with Randall who also acted as our guide. We rode the horses... More

This was one of my favorite places in Costa Rica. You get to get up close and personal with animals that you otherwise probably wouldn't see. Butterflies, frogs, snakes, turtles and macaws. We showed up on a Monday and were the only ones there. Our guide, Frasier, was very knowledgeable and clearly had a passion for the work that is... More

This is a good filler, for an hour or two. The grounds are small but the staff is wonderful, clearly dedicated to this animal refuge and very knowledgeable. Worth the trip to see and learn about animals. In addition, we had a wonderful canyoning experience close by.

Our only regret was that we didn't visit Neo Fauna sooner on our trip. The grounds are small but what they have to offer. The butterfly area was my favorite. My husband liked the snakes and turtles. The birds were gentle. Frasier, our guide, was well informed and explained things to us effectively. We will return.

With the reservation office conveniently located in downtown Jaco, scheduling with Randall was quick and easy! Freyser was an amazing guide for both of our excursions to feed the capuchin monkeys and for the waterfall tour as well! Feeding the monkeys is DEFINITELY not to be missed! The Neo Fauna Wildlife Sanctuary does a tremendous amount of conservation work and... More
