Starting in December of 2018, ASVO has been given the permission by the SINAC for the operation of the Cerro Tortuguero trail. It is a trail with an elevated design where the visitors do not walk directly on the soil of the forest and in this way prevent the erosion and compression of the ground caused by the flow of visitors, offering a safe and comfortable experience for our visitors. Best thing we did in Tortuguero. We went with a guide as part of our stay at Aninga lodge. It is a short walk followed by a big staircase to get up to the viewing point.

There is also plenty of wildlife to see on the short walk. We saw the Blue Jeans frogs, Capuchins, amongst others.

Strongly recommended not only for the fact it is volcano and the only place of this elevation on Caribbean cost. Abundance of plants and animals, monkeys, lizards, toucans amongst many others. The path is clean and the view is stunning once you get to the platform on top. You get to mesmerize how the river gets to the the sea. If you think Tortuguero is small village - on the way to catch a boat back to your hotel, walk San Fransisco - a tiny quiet community there.
This sleeping Vulcano is 15 min boat ride from Tortuguero and you can do it on your own.

Nice trail we saw a lot of spiders and had the chance to see several "mono congo" monkeys
The price is ridiculous compared to all the other activities that can be found in Costa Rica
The view at the top of the steps is spectacular
I recommend 100%

It takes you a morning to walk the path + the climb (steps) to the viewpoint which, of course, is very worth it for one of the best views in the country.
High humidity and insect repellent is mandatory or you are fresh meat.

Wow what a beautiful location this is! The walk is short but this allows you to enjoy the beautiful nature. Path is well constructed using planks, stones and stairs.
Saw two toucans, a red frog and a green macaw.
