I arranged our visit to the centre before we got to Costa Rica. Booking was really easy, but they do ask you to pay the full amount upfront. We opted for the Monkey Package which included a night hike, morning hike and a private tour around the centre. The night trek was the best one we'd done. We saw loads... More

I had read good reviews about this place and was SO happy to have gone here for the day with my family. My wife and two kids (ages 8 & 6) thought this place was incredible. We didn't have to book in advance - just showed up and purchased tickets....the "guide" that took our group of about 12-15 people around... More

This place is just awesome! Guides are so knowledgeable (they are volunteers and paid by your tips, FYI). If you didn't think you saw enough sloths on your trip, take a tour here for sloth cuteness overload. Also some adorable monkeys, although most are gone during the day reacclimating to life in the wild. A wonderful foundation; stop by to... More

My family and I had a great time visiting the rescue centre. Our tour guide was very informative and kind. I was so pleased to hear that animals brought into the rehab are reintroduced into their natural habitat ASAP. It warms my heart to see the people of the rescue centre put their heart and soul into this place <3... More

This was an escorted trip off the cruise ship,we were shown round by a volunteer who was from Leeds [yorkshire],we saw a wide variety of animals & birds. Many injured ones are released back into jungle once they are well enough,if they are too badly injured they stay at the centre. There were owls,a toucan, baby howler monkeys,& tiny baby sloths who need... I have to say that I personally did not attend the visit to the rescue center. My friend took her daughter and my boys. But, after the visit, they all had tons of information to share, including the kids. I was glad to hear that it's really a rescue and not a zoo-type arrangement.

Firstly, it's worth paying extra for the private tour experience ($60 per person, reservations needed in advance). The cost of admission goes directly to maintaining this amazing facility. It's also so in depth and you truly can enjoy the experience. Secondly, this place is doing amazing work. Many of these animals would have no hope of not for the people... More

We came to the Jaguar Rescue Center and had a wonderful experience with well-informed, helpful, pleasant tour guides (giving tours in English, Spanish and French). Marvelled at the amazing variety of animals (sloths, monkeys, caimans, crocodiles, a pelican, an anteater, and an ocelot, among others), but mostly found ourselves impressed by the hard work done by volunteers subsisting only on... Very interesting, up close and personal with the animals. Liked the idea about some of the animals having a chance to be released back into the wild. Would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys wildlife.

This is place where great things happen. You are able to see first hand, the work, effort and results of the many volunteers that dedicate their work to rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing exotic animals back to their "homes" -- homes being the lush green forests that surround this costal area of Costa Rica. Don't let the name "Jaguar Rescue Center" fool... More
