Safe bathing/ surfing beach

This beach is great for swimming/ surfing or just people watching while enjoying a cocktail. Very safe with a gently shelving beach , ideal for learning to surf for all ages.

The beach is huge, there are tons of options for food and drinks. The waves are awesome and the water is warm! There are lots of people trying to sell you dumb stuff, say no and don't let it ruin your day! The sunsets here are insane. Plus you should be in the water ripping some tasty waves bro!

Tamarindo Beach is located close to bars and restaurants and even beach massages but if you want more privacy a short walk down the beach will bring you to a quieter part of the beach. There is world class surfing that has opportunities for beginners to avid surfers depending upon the tide. Fishing is apparently good, however I don't fish... More

Beautiful beach - the low and high tide is quite dramatic, all sand and quite clean - great for beginner surfing. There are some merchants that are annoying and dogs sometimes - but still quite excellent.

Great beach, small waves and constant visits from the local vendors to sell you coconuts, beach chairs, bracelets and necklaces. I understand they need to make a living but let us sit down first and get situated. Another tip to the vendors, once we decline, no need to keep coming back, we just want to chill at your beach!

I have been to Tamarindo twice in two years. This is a magical place. It's not just any one thing. You could find "nicer " beaches but there are qualities here that combine to make it special. The sand is fine, the constant surfing is a great back drop, the ocean is clean here. And a majority of the beach... More

This is a more commercial resort offering lots of activities , shops , restaurants , hotels etc etc. Great beach with several offshore islands, very picturesque.

My 13 year old daughter "got up" on her second attempt at surfing!!! It was great !!!!! Her 28 year old brother helped her, he surfs and Playa Tamarindo is one of his favorites!! There are plenty of surf lessons shops if you can't find her brother for help👍

Not sure what I (mom) was expecting. I knew it wasn't going to be the white sand pristine beaches of the Caribbean. But I thought it would be "nicer". Lots of locals approaching us constantly to try to sell us souvenirs. Quite annoying. Sand was dark brown and hard as a rock. Water was murky (perhaps due to recent hurricane).... More

Lively spot for restaurants, nightlife, and very fun, and not so crowded in mid November. Surf was fun on the right tides. Good vibe in the water at most times and most spots.
