Beaches are public and lack palapas or nice umbrellas. They are kept clean. Vendors are nearby but don't really bother you like in other places, like Mexico.

The beach was nice. We snorkled on one end and saw many species of fish. The staff bring out chairs and umbrellas for free daily and you can borrow boogie boards, kayaks, snorkeling equipment and paddle boards right near the beach.

The beach is really nice and was the best one to see on our trip. You have to walk a bit to get in a more calm area. There you can enjoy your stay. But there are many activities you can do on that beach,...More

It is playa conchal so the sand was a little rough being all sea shells. Public beach but never felt like locals were too pushy. They were there but they all accepted a no with a pleasant smile.

Culture shock stepping off the Weston. Local sellers attacking you every other step. Was not a friendly experience and came off the beach in less than 10 minutes.

The folks who are crabby about this beach apparently don't have legs to walk to a different part. The beach is HUGE and beautiful. One end has a shell beach, vendors, sometimes crowds, and snorkling (sometimes great, sometimes not so great... the weather, swell, tides,...More

Spent 4 days in Playa Conchal. Beach was very nice. Not a lot of people. Beach vendors offer horses, jet skis and ATMs. Very natural looking shoreline. Not a lot of development, which is nice.

This beach was tranquilo! We rented lounge chairs and a tarp for $15 for the day. It included use of a 1- or 2-person kayak. The vendors were quite friendly and knowledgeable. You can rent snorkeling gear, buy food and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) right...More

Amazing beach that is made up of shells. Not crushed - actual shells. I've never seen anything like it before and it is worth a look if you're nearby!

The beach itself is amazing. It is made of tiny shells and broken conchs. The surf was rather rough which made for challenging snorkeling. However, the variety of fish/eels/starfish was good. Small area to snorkel in though. Lots of hawkers. Bought a fish cooked on...More

If you want to take the "Monkey Road" which is a short-cut to Playa Protrero and south to Conchal, it is a dusty, gravel road OK for 2 WD. If you go slow it will be fine. It is a popular road due to the time saved but it... More

Have to qualify about the Monkey Trail. We drove this frequently but only in the dry season. In the rainy season, you could encounter slides, washouts and unstable terrain. I don't recommend this dirt road in the rainy... More

I found booking with any hotel or tourist office adds an extra, per person, 20 to 40 dollars to the cost of what can be arranged in person on location or via one of the beach venders.
