First, things we loved! The beach, the calmness of the water, the uniqueness of the VERY simple cabin, the location of the cabin, right in the woods, the wildlife around the cabin..... We ordered a pre-paid meal which a local woman cooked for $10 US...More

This is an amazing place where you are going to be surrounded completely by nature. The sea is pretty calm. If you like to go away from the city and be completely alone I would recommend you here. You need to take a stove, cooler,...More

We would have loved to camp in Costa Rica, but it wasn't possible. Staying in one of the rustic cabins in Curu was the next best thing. Maybe even better. We loved being lulled to sleep by waves on the beach and woken up by...More

This is a beautiful small park, with some great walks. I stayed in the cabins on site. The cabins are quite simple but peaceful and just steps from the beach. I enjoyed sitting on the beach to see the stars and to watch the sunrise....More

This review is for the experience and not a measure of relative value. We stayed here for 2.5 days and saw more monkeys than anywhere else on our holiday. There are several hiking trails, but we really enjoyed the snorkeling trip to Islas Tortugas. On...More

Returned to the refuge after 10 years, hardly recognized the main grounds and cabins. Pluses; much better hiking trails to allow wildlife viewing, much better signage on the trails, cabins have definitely been upgraded. Minuses; the main area has gotten a little junky with lots...More

We enjoyed spending the day at Curu. Got there shortly after the 7:30 opening so we could see as much wildlife as possible. We were not disappointed. At the administration center, we saw capuchin monkeys and coatis. We also saw capuchin and howler monkeys on...More

Curu is a privately-owned wildlife reserve on a small part of a large farm, still owned by the family who founded the park. The owners' overseeing - and in some cases, direct management - of park activities - is evident in the atypical (for Costa...More

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me with this. I want to book the Bio-luminescent tour with Curú National Wildlife Refuge and I noticed you said it must be done in advance. Do you have a website that you booked it in? Their main website seems to have no information on it. I would really appreciate your help.

Hi Diane! Thanks for your review of Curu National Wildlife Refuge. We're heading there with our 5 kids and their spouses/partners over Christmas holidays this year and are looking forward to it. Quick question. For the entrance fee does the Refuge take credit cards or just cash? Thanks, Brenda
