Take the tractor tour, leave the mud bath behind.
Highlights: Tractor tour worth every single penny. So the hiking around the hot spring was not too exciting--maybe 200 m of trail. Stinky but otherwise nothing to write home about. The hot tubs were also not very hot. The mud bath pond was warmer but only about 20 cm deep and the mud was meh. Showers to get the mud off were cold. That's the unexciting part... The tractor tour was absolutely incredible. These folks own TWO cable bridges with amazing views of two very cool waterfalls. Really impressive waterfalls. You can play in one, but the other one would be way too dangerous. The hikes were short and not too strenuous and we took SOOO many photos. I recommend this place for the tractor tour alone. Superawesome. The food for lunch was really good too. Classic costa rica lunch fare but well prepared and tasty. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

    Great family experience!
We wanted to do thermal pools and see waterfalls so we got the combo package per person ($65 per adult foreign). Totally worth the fee per person. We loved the tractor ride to and from the waterfalls. A tour group (a family of six and their guide) joined us and they only did one of the waterfalls. I asked our tractor driver (he spoke no English) if there was another waterfall to see. The family went back to the tractor and we trekked to the second waterfall. It was a much more difficult hike but totally worth it to be so close to a tall waterfall. We did the sauna, mud bath and then thermal and cold pools before having a lovely lunch. We didn't make reservations for the combo. We just showed up at 9:30 before the 10am tractor ride. It runs at 10am and 2pm for the waterfalls. We love supporting small family owned businesses and the four hours we were there we saw about 20 people total. We definitely recommend visiting this place.

    Amazing tour
Our tour company @croneononetours took us here yesterday. We had an amazing time. Two different suspension bridges to beautiful waterfalls. After a delicious lunch at the family run restaurant we did a water slide followed by the volcanic mud bath, hot springs and toured up where the source comes from. Excellent day. Certainly recommend.

We went on a February morning, and were completely disappointed. A small volcanic area, that you can circle on a walkway in 10 minutes, a rundown hot water pool, a mediocre mud pool - and $30 USD per person for that??
Save your money and go elsewhere!
And there are tons of waterfalls that are easily visited. No need for those gauging fees!

We came here with our family of 6, four kids, and we absolutely loved the tractor ride and hike to the waterfalls, followed by a delicious lunch and then the spa experience. Even the kids loved the hot springs and mud bath. It was a great day!

We went here at the suggestion of a local rep ( Max - ‪+506 8479 2945‬ what’s app if you are looking for someone trustworthy in Guanacaste area) that had helped us set up some other things while visiting. He didn’t prebook it, we wanted something off the beaten path and not as touristy. This feels like a family run business, it is missing many things but there is charm in just that. We took a tractor and saw the falls and did the suspension bridge/paths to get to them. We loved it, was a nice hike and we were alone with our guide. We saw people as we came out on horses (we didn’t ride horses). Never ceases to amaze me how different the waterfalls can be.

We did the typical lunch - which was great. The service was not very friendly but the food delicious. (For people looking at this, consider we were already 3 days in on resort only food and we were happy for something different)

We then walked the volcano area, the mud baths were a bit ick, and then we also tried out the hot baths. This area overall could use some work. The sauna is cool but really dark. The springs had 3 ranging from hot to cold - so there is a process to go through each as others have explained but the water is murky cause people get in after mudbaths.

Still a very cool experience, we were happy to not be surrounded by many tourists (off season too remember) and to support a local more family type business.

The lady at the reception was very rude and very aggressive in all her responses to any of our questions. The hanging bridges waterfall tour is brief and unimpressive. Do not waste your vacation time at a place that does not appreciate their customers. Spend your time and money elsewhere

It was a phenominal day. We had two of the best guides EVER! Pedro and the driver (Edwardo, we think. Sorry) were beyond courteous, informative and patient. This was one of the best trips, if not the best, that we've done. Thanks guys.

If you go there don’t wonder and be scared. There is nothing around. That’s in the middle of nowhere.
It’s a small way to enter the place.
There a many small areas where the hot water coming out.
They have few different natural pools, a mud bath, natural sauna and more. The restaurant serve great dishes.

Great time hiking, soaking and with mud bath. Lunch was an exceptional Costa Rican meal. Waterfalls were beautiful and everyone so friendly. Thanks Ronald our tour guide for suggesting this. @LiberiaTropicalTours.

The waterfall tour has completely changed since the hurricane last November, but nothing on Las Hornillas' website has changed. Even our hotel owner who suggested it didn't know it has changed, as he told us it was a great tour through lush jungle with waterfalls you can swim in. Imagine my surprise when we arrived and I asked if I should change into my bathing suit, and they told me there was no swimming.
Now, before I continue, the real damage from the hurricane is the damage to lives - 9 people from the village near Las Hornillas lost their lives. It was a terrible natural disaster with devastating effects.
Some of those effects were to the landscape of Costa Rica, and to many manmade structures. At the first waterfall, there used to be stairs leading down to a platform from which you could jump into the pool beneath the waterfall. Those stairs and that platform have been ripped to shreds. You can now only go down some stairs to get a sideways view of the waterfall from above. No getting anywhere near the water. For the next two waterfalls, you used to pass over a lovely waterfall that ran through a lush jungle corridor via hanging bridge. The bridge now passes over a barren, rocky landscape with ripped up trees and a pathetic waterfall running down the side. Then a short hike led to a third waterfall that you used to be able to walk right up to and stand beneath, also surrounded by verdant jungle. The path now stops many meters before the waterfall, with access completely cut off by fallen trees and giant boulders. There is no green surrounding the waterfall, only torn up red rocks. I didn't even bother taking pictures because it was so ugly and I was upset. Before the hurricane, when you could enter the water at two waterfalls and get gorgeous jungly photos, the tour cost $40 ($55 if combined with the hot springs). After the hurricane, now that you can't touch water at all and the waterfalls absolutely aren't worth visiting, the tour costs the same. Nowhere is there any disclaimer that anything has changed. I understand that nature happens and that they still need to survive as a business, but this honestly felt like highway robbery.

First we did waterfalls and hike,Beutifull waterfalls and surroundings,we walked there for a few hours ,after we went for most important activity LUNCH and let me tell you that was realy good food and full plate.after that hot springs mudbath and relax.we did this on our own so we took time to relax there.Volcanic area fairly small.walks and hanging bridges worth the visit( if you want longer walks where is volcanic activity and more natural i would recomend Rincon de la vieja).you can do a pacage there or separate activities. We took combo $55 for mudbath, hot springs, lunch and hanging bridges and hikes to waterfalls.
I would recomend this if you in the area
