Beautiful walk

Beautiful walk. Mostly flat. You can climb to a lookout if you want. It's not far and there are steps for half the way. I am totally out of shape and could do the main loop and... read more

Loved seeing the volcano on my drives. Stayed at a hotel with a great view of it as well. Took a hiking tour up the mountainside, but NOT that high up. It was a lot of fun and the tour guides give you all the details of the eruptions and volcano history.

This conical volcano, with steam clouds on top, is very impressive and beautiful from all sides. The surroundings are beautiful too, and there is a lot to do around. You can hike in one of the trails to discover the nature and the old lava flows. Get to know the history of the place too.

Nice to look at but the park itself is nothing to speak of. $15 for an adult to get in. No working bathrooms. A short easy hike in the woods with a few black rocks to stumble over at the end of the walk ... very unimpressive walk. No information - no pamphlet, no observatory; no interpreters; little signage ....... More

The volcano dominates the landscape in every direction and provides a tropical sub climate complete with hot springs. Try "The Springs" resort to enjoy a superior resort with hot springs at almost any temperature that you could ask for.

Beautiful walk. Mostly flat. You can climb to a lookout if you want. It's not far and there are steps for half the way. I am totally out of shape and could do the main loop and the lookout. Heat and humidity got to me toward the end but we brought bottles of water and kept sipping them. If I... More

When we arrived to the Arenal Volcano we were blessed with 4 full days of seeing the Volcano unubstructed! They say they hardly ever see it that clear. Usually only 6 times a year"

True, you can only hike a very short trail along the old lava flow due to the fact that Arenal only stopped its nightly fireworks display in 2010, but you do get an amazing panoramic view - of the volcano and of Lake Arenal - from the top of the trail. It's an easy hike too (just 1.6km each way,... More

We had a great hike up, saw lots of birds, plants and insects. Our guide was great and explained the local history of the eruption in 1968.
