Well worth a visit. It is a beautiful basilica and very important to Costan Ricans and it is for Maria de Los Angeles, the patron saint of Costa Rica.

The Los Angeles Basilica is Costa Rica´s main Cathedral since Cartago used to be the central Capital in the Colonial Period.

Neat little church. There are many people trying to sell things outside so be prepared. Lotto tickets & novelty toys. There are a few shaved ice vendors as well.

They played the organ while we visited. Very impressive. There were devoted members as well as tourists present. The windows are some ta ular as well as the whole structure. Very detailed, many secluded prayer rooms, beautiful sculpture. A black Madonna.
