The second you step foot in Projecto Asis, you realize what an incredibly special place you're in. We visited with our three children(ages 6, 7 and 10). They will never ever forget the experience they had. Paying extra for the volunteer experience was worth every penny. My kids were able to slice fruits and vegetables and then feed them to... More

We visited Proyecto Asis from the Treehouse Hotel in Arenal chiefly because we wanted to visit with monkeys. There are a lot of animals that have been rescued but be forewarned: there are very if any sloths. Apparently sloths are better at acclimating to their environment and do not need the sanctuary for too long. There is a guided tour... More

Arranged private tour with my two teen sons. We prepared food for the monkeys, got to touch them and hear about how they found their way to the sanctuary. There were many interesting animals and birds. Some were roaming free in their natural habitat. The guide was very interesting and knowledgeable

What a great place. I took my two teenage boys on the tour, we didn't volunteer. The tour was wonderful and gave lots of information about the animals. Not a zoo, they are taking care of animals that cannot be in the wild - some will eventually be released but some never can be. They do a great job there... More

This tour was very informative. I felt like I learned a lot about the local wildlife and the issues that affect them. They release animals back into the wild when possible.

Very easy to reserve and arrange transportation from resort. The tour guide was fantastic - very knowledgeable and passionate. They had a lot of different animals and birds to see - wonderful experience.

We volunteered at Proyecto with our 2 kids (ages 6 and 9) and stayed with a local family for a night, and it was fantastic. At Proyecto, the morning was spent chopping food for the animals based on a unique diet for each of them, and cleaning out some of their cages. It was a great experience for our boys.... More

Hi rwr_3, Thanks so much for your review. It makes us all happy to know your ' One-night Homestay program' was a great family experience. It is somehow a positive challenge and amazing learning experience when you meet people who do not speak your language and still find a way to communicate. Thanks for sharing with us and your support. More

Our guide Carlos was charming, funny and informative. We learned a lot about the animals there and how Costa Rica does (and doesn't) protect them. He also shed light on how Americans can impact the protection of CR animals. Hint: don't buy parakeets and other birds from there at the pet stores. For me, the real fun was feeding the... More

We took our 7 year-old son on this tour including feeding the animals and it was worth our time! We cannot say enough good things about Carlos: - He is very committed to his work there and describes it as the "best five years" of his life. - He engages the children (and adults) in the group and truly makes... We had a great experience at Proyecto Asis. Our guide Carlos was very enthusiastic and clearly loves what he does. We did the tour and volunteer. It was a fairly large group but Carlos did a great job of managing the group and making sure everyone got a chance to see and do everything and get involved. He is passionate... More
