“Probably the worst place in Shanghai”

“Nice place for HipHop and RnB”
If you want a sense that these are still the boom years in China's most dynamic city, this club is where you need to be. Decked out in red wherever the eye falls and accompanied by the club's signature disorientating eye pattern, Le Baron exudes...more

This is undoubtedly the worst nightspot I've visited in Shanghai, and possibly even the world. Rude staff, overpriced drinks, iTunes playlist quality of music, and very crowded (somehow!). Do yourself a favour and drink elsewhere on Donghu Lu which is actually a very good street...More

Classy with all the illuminati red eyes haha, the decor is cool. it’s a great place to relax and enjoy the music. Plenty of celebrities also, CBA players frequent the joint. Drinks are not that expensive and worth the money, you can get beers...so cool.

Really???? A very dated “ disco” with obscenely overpriced drinks with the most “ uncool” crowd, think Macy’s buyers being cool in Shanghai! Enough said?

I wouldn't recommend this place, its an aweful place trying to be pretentious because they have so many foreigners who go, but its not that great. There are much better bars in this area that actually welcome you and don't treat you like cattle outside...More

This is hands down the most terrible, discriminatory club in Shanghai. The boss is absolutely HORRIBLE and will pick on minorities (gays, dress, cultures, etc) and kick them out of the club for absolutely no reason. The drinks are expensive, the staff are the rudest...More

Rude staff, aggressive attitudes from door security. Poor crowd management, waiting in long queues to exit the building, drink thieves also roam the area. My bottle of champagne was stolen when I turned my back. Summary don't waste your time.

This is a great bar for a drink in the French Concession. it has two bars both of them with good barmen who prepare nice drinks. Prices are expensive but up to the place. the crowd is a mixture of young and not so young...More

Le Baron's monochromatic red interior is pretty intense, but the textures add a lot of nuance and interest. By international standards, the music, clientele and interior don't stand out... for the relatively staid club scene in Shanghai, Le Baron is a breath of cool. Arrived...More

I've been to Le Baron several times, I really like the music and it is for sure a great after party venue. However, the experience of getting in makes me not want to go every single time. The door girl, Stephanie, is very rude. She...More

Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly
governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French
Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that
is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While
it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will
sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their
mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area
seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet,
