I am checking some old pics and remebered of that great trip! It was still bit hot in October, but riding under the tree shades was nice. We went through the lilongs to see local life, tried tea ceremony and ate some snacks, felt a very lifestyle behinds of the modern international city. Highly recommend to people who wants to... If you have a late afternoon flight from Pudong, you should spend your morning on this bike tour. It's awesome. I've been here 5x and this was the best way to experience off the beaten path and learn some history. It was also a super fun way to get around.

Quite an adventure traveling through the streets of Shanghai with no helmets on bikes with weak brakes! But I love bike tours and this one took us to places I haven't yet seen. I appreciated Steve, who as a Chinese national, could answer my questions such as what is the retirement age, what does a cifantuan (Shanghai specialty) look like.... More

We discussed at the start the types of places we wanted to see and what we wanted to avoid. The trip was tailored before our eyes and evolved. I appreciated visiting alley-ways with crowded houses and a park with singers, dancers and large groups congregating to talk. Also got helpful advice on gifts and great chats over drinks and lunch.... More

An amazing way to see the City. I took the Shanghai highlights tour which took 4+ hours at a leisurely pace. Lisa accommodated me at very short notice and I ended up with a personal tour that was comprehensive and never rushed. Highlight for me was the old folks reading, playing cards, singing, writing water calligraphy poems and learning ballroom... More

The company cancelled the day of and did not send anyone to the meet site to tell us. We stood in the hot sun for 30 minutes waiting for the guide to show up. They did try to text and email, but I didn't have phone service. They should have sent someone to meet our group and tell us.

This was such a great way to get to see Shanghai. I knew that I would only have the one day in the city and didn't want to fuss about with taxis or the metro, so I booked the Highlights tour. I think we were very fortunate as it was a holiday, so traffic was very light. I loved seeing... More

My sister visited me in Shanghai and we decided to take the early morning bike tour through Shanghai. We started at 6:30 and cycled through Nanjing Road, Jing an area, Old town (visited the bird and insect market), French concession, had breakfast at a footstall, visited the Yu Yuan garden, had a tee session and had a great time. We... More

Hoi Patricia, Thank you for this great review and I'll be sure to pass the praise on to Stan. If you ever have other visitors in town, you know where to find us! For other people interested in doing this tour with us, I think a typo has been made, as the Wake Up Shanghai tour actually costs 350 RMB... More

We go on bike tours everywhere we travel. I had arranged an "off the beaten path tour" with a different guide the day before this bike ride and thought this "Highlights of Shanghai" bike ride would be a nice compliment. First off, after meeting our group at a street corner we had to walk to a carpark to get our... More

Hi there, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this review. This is of course never the experience we would like our guests to have and we are indeed very sorry that we were not able to deliver to your expectations. It seems like an accumulation of annoying things, that were absolutely unnecessary and don't normally happen.... More

Staying in Jing'an

Neighbourhood Profile
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
