If you're into local history of Shanghai, this Exhibition hall is a must see. Lots of interesting history with photographs on the development of Shanghai as an international city with incredible commercial influence. The model of Puxi and Pudong is nothing short of amazing and will help you understand the overall layout and dimension of this metropolitan area. Would highly... More

I'm seriously into urban planning, and this 'hall' has 5 floors of very comprehensive city history and urban planning exhibits and information. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in Shanghai's history and future development, as well as to those interested in urban planning in general.

The Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall feature is like many archetctural scale models that you will find in the foyer of many city developments, but this one is on steroids. You really need a lot of time in order to appreciate the historical development (and vision to some extent) of the Shanghai city. Apart from the model there are some... More

I wasn't expecting to like this museum as much as I did, but it was so informative. You are able to soak in a lot about the building up of the city from its earliest days to the current times, even the future of the city. You can learn how the city tackles big projects and a lot of facts... More

You will learn about the construction of Shanghai, how fast the city has change, the roots of this vibrant city. And the best part is the big 3D map of the city. Make sure to visit it while you already know a little bit the city... You'll have more fun recognizing the places where you have been.

This is worth an hour or so of your time to wander through the exhibits and see how the city of Shanghai developed over the years. Great to see some of the pictures of the old city and "then" and "now" pictures. On the fourth floor is a full model of the current city of Shanghai - simply amazing. The... More

The model of Shanghai is great if you're slightly familiar with the city. Great the see the sky scrapers dominate the city and you can pick out the areas you've visited. Nice way to spend the afternoon and learn more about shanghais ever growing urban zones.

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
