This is an excellent and unique museum that provides a look into Shanghai's past and future. The exhibition is free and there are lots of things for families of small children to do.
Cost for admission, at least australian $10 from memory. Some nice diaromas here & there, big display of overall city layout on an upper level. Some pretty chinese biased history displays. Probably wouldn't pay to return but it was fairly informative.
Best thing here is the model of the city - fascinating. Huge. The rest of the museum is not nearly so interesting. See the model and skip everything else.

Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall is great place to visit and understand the size of the city. You walk around the miniature city and get the feeling of the size.
