If you're new to Shanghai and want to explore the City beyond the major sights that's the right tour to start. Anita, my guide (I was the only one at that date) did a great job to explain everything - from local customs, visiting some backstreets or local markets. If you want to see the top-5 sights this is the... More

Informative and helpful for travelers new to Shanghai/China - suggest that this tour is taken close to arrival time. Our guide Wing was enthusiastic, English very good and had a depth of local knowledge.

Excellent tour. Daniel was my tour guide (and I was the only one so got VIP treatment). Had a lovely late lunch at the vegetarian restaurant by the Temple after which we went for a walk through some of the local area and stopped in a typical Chinese market, tried a 'moon cake' and made an impromptu stop at a... Initially wanting to do the food tour with UNtour but being booked out, me and my friend went with Urban Adventures and were very happy with our tour. We had May who was very lovely, sweet and relaxed. We met at the temple and went to a noodle shop to try vegetarian noodles. We then went to a local supermarket... More

Daniel my guide gave me a personal experience of how Shanghai was and is now. We caught the Metro to the park next to the Football Stadium. Witnessing the big variety of dancers was lovely to see. We also visited the Lu Xun's memorial museum and an then, his former home. The famous street of cultural people was great to... More

We spent 3 hours with Joyce learning about the Chinese foods in stores, having samples, and then ending at a VERY popular Dim Sum restaurant. The best part was walking through the stores and having all the foods we had seen explained to us. We went to vegetable and fish market too. The tour started at the Jing-An temple across... More

Our tour guide, Joyce took us to two local restaurants and for a tour of the markets and some local shops. She was very interesting to talk to, very friendly and had a great knowledge of the local area. We felt we learnt a great deal about local Shanghai food and culture.

We had an awesome tour with our guide, Joyce. She spoke English very well and was born and raised in Shanghai. Joyce was a wealth of information about the culture and history of Shanghai in addition to the variety of food options available to match our tastes. The tour starts at Reo Dow, the vegetarian Buddhist restaurant ran by the... More

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
