This Chinese Buddhist Temple hosts two jade Buddha statues imported from Burma, along with many other cultural relics. It is a peaceful refuge from the modern bustle of Shanghai, where monks may be seen and heard conducting Buddhist ceremonies.

I walked here from my hotel (Portman Ritz Carlton.) It was a good walk, but lovely when I arrived. There are quite a few different Buddha statues in the temple.

Worthwhile making a visit. The weird part is that the temple is largely newly built or renovated, as such it poses a contrast to your usual "old" temple. As everything is so new, and partially still even being constructed, the smell of fresh paint and...More

The temple complex is quite large and yes there is a jade Buddha statue in one of the temple buildings. The main temple has one of the most beautiful interiors I have ever seen. The wood carvings and the ceiling design is stunning and not...More

It's so unfortunate that when we visited it was under heavy construction, dust and noise. I could only imagine what the finished refurbishment would be like. A really good place worth visiting, if only....

I feel this temple is worth a visit but the other larger temple is better to see and a definite must see. Restoration work is currently in progress here so you do lose a little of the atmosphere as it is noisy from the building...More

This place is full of hidden surprises and is certainly worth a taxi ride out of the city to visit it. Lots of little temples each with their own sense of presence. The Jade Buddha itself is stunning and humbling to visit. Clearly holds a...More

Keep about one hour time. It may be a good idea to just sit and relax. There are various forms of Buddha which are interesting to note. It will be good if you read a bit about the temple and visit. Will give a better... More
