I came to this temple early morning on my only day off in Shanghai, what a peaceful beautiful place this is! As soon as I got in all the stress of the past few days just left, I could have stayed here all day if it wasn't that I wanted to visit other things.

Even if you've seen lots of Buddhist temples, this one is beautiful and has several buildings worth walking through, including of course a stop at the Jade Buddha itself. It is clearly a working temple with monks present throughout, people praying and making offerings. Great atmosphere. Well kept. Excellent modern washrooms as well.

We enjoyed our visit, and saw many beautiful things. My only problem was trying to hail a taxi back to our hotel on the Bund. We waited for 50 minutes at the taxi stand outside the Temple. I sure wish über worked in China. For this reason I would caution others in visiting the place.

Very much worth the small admission charge. Many rooms of prayer with magnificent Buddhas. The magnificent jade Buddha from Burma is truly astonishing. There is also a large reclining marble Buddha from Singapore. There are chambers and halls and a restaurant.

We have been to many Buddhist Temples in India, Thailand, Burma, etc. However, we saw one of the most exquisite Buddhas in this Temple. It is the sitting, White Jade Buddha in the Hall Building. The Sitting Buddha is numinous and his face radiates tranquility.

Getting to great jade temple from city centre takes about one hour so in a tight schedule i would recommend to think if your time allows visiting this magnificent temple. If it does - don't miss out this traditional peaceful temple.
