The riverside walk along the Bund may be busy and crowded during the day, but with good reason - it's simply a must when in Shanghai for people-watching and getting a good feel for the city.

Walked for 30 minutes or so checking the sights then decided to do a cruise down the river. Quite cheap and for about 11/2 hours we cruised the river, taking in the sights and taking pictures of as much as we could.

The Shanghai skyline is a definite must see and walking down Nanjing Road to the Promenade provides a good flavour of Shanghai.

You get closer to the water, fewer people, it is a more relaxing visit, you can walk further and there are bars, cafes and restaurants along the way offering river views.

The two things are completely different. The promenade is a nice place for a stroll or walk. Just have a nice time taking in the sights and enjoying the view.
