The area
Address
Neighbourhood: People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
How to get there

I was staying at a nearby hotel and every time I walked by the church it appeared closed. The front has the gate closed at all times. Would have been nice to visit the inside of a Catholic Church. Maybe next time.

Nice building right in the heart of the city but it doesn't look like the palce hosts services in English anymore. Information is a bit confusing though. Went there to check myself and was told that services in English are no longer held at this church. For that I found Shanghai Community Fellowship at a not too far neighborhood.

Seeing a full functioning Catholic Church in the heart of Shanghai’s People Square area was so interesting. We went on Sunday around 1pm and there was a full service underway.
Visitors were all respectful of the mass and I got to see my first Chinese Bible!
Quite a humbling experience!

Situated at the heart of Shanghai, that is People's Square. The main hub for Shanghai Metro, People's Square Metro station is the nearest point to this church. On the other side of Xizang Middle Road is the Moore Memorial Church. Partly hidden amidst shopping malls, look for the tower of the church. On Sunday during mass time, the church will be crowded to the full. Better to avoid this time. When I was inside this church the mass was conducted in Chinese language.
