If you only have time to do one recording studio tour, do the one on Jackson Highway
Jun. 2021
I cannot begin to express my disappointment in this tour. The tour guide seemed to know very little about what she was talking about and when you know more than the tour guide, that's a problem. She was pleasant, but almost right off the bat she said she didn't like country music. I'm not a huge fan of it, but if I was giving a tour I wouldn't offer my views on that. The tour only lasted about 40 minutes. They did give senior and military discounts.

Legendary
May 2021
OK. It is just a recording studio and I could see how someone could not understand what the fuss is about. However, for me, to stand where all those legendary musicians made those recordings was a great thrill. The grandson of Rick Hall gave the tour. So many great stories. Combine this tour with the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio tour for the complete experience.

FAME!
Apr. 2021
"Where so much music was born"! From Aretha, to The Allman Brothers, and many more in between: Etta James, Wilson Pickett, Bobbie Gentry, and so many more worked in this recording studio. The tour is great-our guide played snippets of music during the tour, and explained the stories behind the songs. See some of the original instruments used during many recordings you will surely recognize ! Say Hi to Linda Hall, still working hard in the office!!

Start of some amazing musical careers
Jan. 2021
This was a neat tour, although it was cut short. There was an artist actually recording in Studio A so I didn't get to visit the big studio for that portion of the tour. I was able to see Studio B and Rick Hall's office - Rick was the founder - which I was told wasn't usually on the tour. They have parking available and a nice gift shop.

Cut of History

If you know anything about about the history of music in this region, you must visit Fame. Just looking at the pictures alone make it worth the trip. Amazing to walk through the same doorways as many of the greats to ever record an album.

Great tour guide
Jul. 2020
Five stars because the tour guide was so enthusiastic. That really makes the difference between a good tour and a bad one. Fame Studios had more country artists there so I was more interested in the pop/rock artists who recorded at Muscle Shoals Studio. However, learning the behind the scenes info about the songs, instruments and the location in general made it very interesting and worth it. They had some cool items in the gift shop as well.

Wonderful tour!
Feb. 2020 • Couples
Arrived here for 4 pm tour and had to wait since there was a live recording session going on. That was a blessing because Linda Hall, Rick Halls widow, talked to us. She was warm and gracious and told us stories about Rick and the musicians. We took the tour with only 3 other people. Spencer was the tour guide and he was very enthusiastic. Enjoyed the stories of artists who recorded there. Love that it is still a recording studio.

The spirit of the music lives in the walls
Feb. 2020
So many stories, so much iconic music, and such amazing local talent. And how quickly the word spread among headliners in the music industry, they all came here - especially a surprising number from the UK. If you can watch the documentary before you go, it will be much more meaningful and come alive. Today folks come from the world over to visit the birthplace of shoals music sound. The tour guide was passionate about the musical history made inside these four walls and shared great stories.

So much history from a "cool" tour guide
Nov. 2019
Wow, was not impressed when we pulled into the parking lot and saw this tiny little building that is responsible for so many #1 hits, etc. but we went in anyway.

Wow, wow, wow!! The tour guide was phenomenal - I'm sorry I can't remember his name but everything was "cool" - His positive energy and knowledge of the history of the music made in this location over the last several decades was impressive. Especially as another reviewer mentioned...even though he is too young to have experienced it. He has a great talent in connecting with music and people. It's not work when you enjoy your job that much! So amazing to know that we stood in the same place, in front of the same microphones and instruments with some true legends and music icons. We left with much more knowledge of the Shoals influence in the music industry along with some great CD's and a few "cool" T-shirts! Really enjoyed it! Thanks much
