Another ante-bellum classic........

This is a beautiful building in a rough area of the city. Make sure you use caution when visiting. Wish the neighborhood had been kept up.

The Governor's Mansion is in a poor section of town and has very limited opening hours. So do not incorporate it into your trip planning, unless you are an Alabama resident and can plan around the restrictive opening hours.

When I visited, the Governor's Mansion was closed, which was just as well because I didn't have time to tour it anyway. The exterior was gorgeous, with beautiful iron gates, the First Lady's Rose Garden, and of course the iconic white mansion. I took pictures through the fence and managed to get quite a few interesting shots, a few of... More

Wow! We visited the mansion and what a wonderful time to share with our family! The attraction is free, so no worries for a large family or a family with lots of friends. The tours are only on the Mondays in December so make sure to take off work to enjoy lots of time together. The gift shoppe - across... More

The Governor's Mansion is a beautiful home located in a residential area of Montgomery. As of this writing, tours are given on Tuesday's and Thursday's from 10-2, so unfortunately, we weren't able to do a tour since we were in Montgomery over the weekend.

I did not take a tour, instead i just drove by and snapped a couple of photos. So i cant comment on the interior, but the exterior is beautiful. Definitely worth a quick drive by.

The house is kept in such good shape and it truly belong to Alabamians. Mrs. Riley opened the House up often during her husband's governorship. She wrote a great cookbook.

The tour guide information doesn't explicitly say that you MUST call and be scheduled for a tour or you cannot tour. We showed up at 2:15pm and were told that we should have called days or weeks ahead of time. The last tour had already departed and we were unable to view.

The Governor's Mansion is only open for tours the first 3 Mondays in December. This is a candlelight tour, which commences at 05:30 P.M. and ends at 07:30 P.M. The tickets are free, but they can be obtained at the Gift Shop across Finley Avenue. This is the fourth visit for my wife and I, and we were disappointed. The... More
