From the Battleship USS ALABAMA to the Submarine USS DRUM and over 25 aircraft, the spirit of military pride is alive and well.Aboard the battleship you will be able to explore 12 decks. Among those, you can climb inside gun turrets, get locked in the Brig, man a 12mm gun and much more. Also at the park, you will be able to go below and explore inside the oldest Submarine on display, Submarine USS DRUM. In the Medal of Honor Aircraft Pavilion as well as in the park, you will be able to view many rare and historic aircraft. There were 3 self-guided tours of this WW II ship and all were informative. You can actually visualize the life of the sailors who lived on it by touring the ship. Allow a minimum of 2 hours. There is a submarine you can tour and a building housing historic planes on the grounds as well.

We visited the Battleship USS Alabama Park yesterday. Consistently we heard others saying "we only planned to be here an hour and we've already been here 2 hours"... :) Morale of the story, if you plan to take all 3 self guided tours on the USS Alabama, spend a bit of time reading some of the galleries, then walk through... They don't make them like this anymore. A thrill to see it up close. There was so much more than the battleship. They have planes, tanks, subs, etc. Plan on at least 2 hours to see it all. I think it took me 3 hours and almost 300 pictures before I was done and that was not seeing everything. I... More

This park also has outside static displays of lots of aircraft including a B-52. There's a huge air-conditioned indoor aircraft hanger with tons of aircraft, fighters, bombers, helicopters and such. The admission also gets you into a WW2 submarine.

Went here with a 10, 6, and 5 year old. They throughly enjoyed the ship and talked about it a lot afterwords! It's a lot of climbing small ladders and walking but the kids were able to do it on their own and never complained.

This is a great educational visit for the family. The way the ships are presented are some of the best I have ever seen. It shows alot of appreciation for our history and military, but like alot of the places, the gift shop prices are astronomical. That is the only down side .

We stopped here on our way home from FL and are glad we did. This is a great tribute to the USS Alabama, the USS Drum, several planes and several tanks. The memorial is well put-together/well done, and is educational/informative. We spent about 2 hours and change to cover the park. The ship itself is in great shape, and it... More

Had to stop in and see the battleship USS Alabama and the submarine USS Drum when we drove through the area. My husband is retired Navy and seeing the ships, forts and battle sites around the country is a must. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk through tight spaces and walk over the middle areas that separates the... More

We were informed by the Alabama Visitors Center of the 75th anniversary celebration of the commissioning of the USS Drum submarine. We enjoyed free admission and parking. That was a $55 savings for my family. This is an easy diversion off I-10 and well worth it, even if you are pressed for time as we were. It's been over a... More
