Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We planned a stop in Mobile because we read that it was like the French Quarter, only cleaner. The night we were there there was a lot of closed store fronts and several pods of young adults loitering along the street. That being said we opted to head back to our hotel and have dinner.

I hear it looks like New Orleans... I just hope it's more animated and especially more picturesque because there it was a bit dead despite very nice houses. Well, it's true that it rained and without sunshine, it's rather tristoune

Dauphin Street resembles the French Quarter, Charleston and Savannah with its architecture. But the area has seen better days. It’s only about a mile long but half the storefronts are vacant. As a result, it’s dark and uncrowded even on a weekend night. I am also not aware of anything especially historic or significant about this street. It’s just some bars and restaurants and a square with a cathedral.

We really enjoyed walking in downtown Mobile especially on Dauphin Street. There are many small restaurants and bars. We visited On a Friday night/Saturday morning during COVID. Our night walk was fun and we saw adequate security out. Felt very safe although the hotel required a key to enter after dark. Can't say enough about Mobile. we enjoyed this great city sooooo much more than New Orleans.

What a neat street to just gaze at the houses. We worked our way from I-65 on the west to the downtown area just in wonder of the large great homes. Smaller, but very interesting homes can be found in the neighborhoods south and parallel to Dauphin.

The worst part was incurring the wrath of local drivers impact to be away with elderly Florida tourists.

This was not a formal guided tour.

Perhaps at one time Dauphin Street might have been bustling but currently there are more buildings boarded up than open. I saw a couple of restaurants and a few shops but none that I was interested in shopping in.
There are still a couple decent restaurants but that is about it.
I felt like I had been mislead by the advertising Mobile does for this area and it was a waste of my time.

There’s some great little restaurants down in this area. There are only two shops, but they are really trying to revive this area so I suggest that you make some time to try to walk the street and help provide the economy! It has a really nice square down there.

Dauphin Street is very nice. French architecture in the area is much like New Orleans French Quarter except it’s clean and safe. We enjoyed our short weekend in downtown Mobile.

Visited Dauphin at on a Saturday morning. Wasn’t much happening. Found a small farmer’s market on the square in front of the Cathedral. Area seems mostly suited for nightlife. We did eat at Wintzell’s Oyster Bar for lunch and enjoyed that. Many people seemed to be enjoying lunch at Spot of Tea. Dauphin st felt quiet and deserted.

This street could be in New Orleans but cleaner.
There were lots of restaurants and bars. Several currently are closed due to Covid. However it looks like a really fun place. We sat outside at a brewpub and watched people walk by.
