The area could really use some more shops and restaurants opening up the place of the other ones that are no longer open. I enjoyed taking a stroll one Saturday afternoon to go shop and eat.

I visited on a Friday evening, and they had the street blocked off so that you could stroll down the middle of it. Lots of folks were doing just that. Plenty of bands and musicians and bars blaring music. Pretty good vibe overall with everyone...More

I'm from mobile and have always enjoyed a nice walk downtown. From day to night the peanut shop is a must. All the parties happen on this strip and near by.

Dauphin street offers a nice stroll, and a pretty large selection of restaurants. The city seems to be doing a good job of maintaining its cleanliness and safety, which is nice to see in a downtown area.

There are a lot of nice shops and restaurants on Dauphin street, most located in 19th or early 20th-century structures that give the street a real charm. Families be warned, however, the street becomes very much like New Orleans' French Quarter in the evenings.

This is truly a great place to walk around. We were there several years ago and it looks like it has been on the decline, but that just gives the area an opportunity to get better. The smell of peanuts is worth the trip.

Spent several days in Mobile in a hotel close to Dauphin Street. Walked it many times and there are a lot of things to do there. Many places are closed down and a lot of the shops and resturants/bars there cater to a younger crowd....More

Google Mobile Mardi Gras schedule and you should get a lot of useful information about times, routes and good locations to watch the parades. Enjoy
