Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An old but well maintained church. It is just beside the Bayview Hotel which I was staying over the weekend. It is also within walking distance from The Pines, Courtyard and a few other hotels and restaurants.
There is a beautiful garden in the church compound which provides beautiful photos.
Very serene and peaceful.
The only slight issue is the overzealous church wardens who were can make you feel unwelcome.

Some of you are confusing St. Peter's with St. Paul's. St. Paul's is the ruin of an old Portuguese church on top of the hill. St. Peter's is a functioning Roman Catholic church built by the Dutch in another part of town. Both are well worth visiting.

Got scolded for the taking the side entrance instead of the front entrance. It IS an entrance, no? Smiled and apologized.
Next I got scolded by the same old man to "Cover up, this is a house of god!". I was wearing long pants, a long sleeved cardigan, a shirt up to my collar bones and even closed shoes. What else should I have worn? A space suit?
In the entire country I did not meet a single rude person aside from this disgusting old man, who obviously feels that god's creation needs to be hidden in order to please him. It is a terrible feeling to be objectified like that, for no reason whatsoever. Disgusting. Not very christian either, I suppose.
PS: church is boring, but even the Sistine chapel would leave a negative impression with terrible staff like that.

The Church is located in Jalan Bendahara northeast of St.Paul's hill, and not to be mistaken with the ruins of St.Paul church on the top of the hill, near the Dutch Square .
Many photos in this review , are the ruins of St.Paul's Church.
The St.Peter is built in 1710 , said that this was the only Catholic Church in Melaka.
Its still a functioning Church and many kinds of procession still implemented in this Church, like wedding and candlelight processions.
Well preserved exterior and interior.
Worth a visit !

I can say this is the peak attraction of Historical Melaka. I feel comfortable when watching the Malacca straits and the ships from here. I can feel the church music and the service when standing inside the church during the days where no crowd in the place. the tablet stones displayed tells the story of bravery and dedication to the profession of the naval sailors and officers. Its one of the three hills that are of military importance in the days of vasco Da gamma.

By far, one of my favourite ruins in Asia. So charming and beautiful. The view is amazing. The street artist on the right side of the church is the best--bought so many pieces from him. This place is a must see when in Melaka.

It was a sunny and beautiful day in Melaka and my fiancé and I wanted to do some sightseeing so we could say that we saw Melaka instead of only the massage parlours. It was a nice walk up to St. Peter's Church and of course, you can take beautiful pictures. The architecture is wonderful and it makes it even more special knowing it was built in 1710.

This church is famous for its Good Friday candlelight procession when it has held many decades already. All walks of life ( including non believers ) will turn up in force to participate and to pray for their own intentions ( including those from afar such as Singapore and Europe ). Nevertheless, this church is also frequented by those who wants to take their wedding photos because its interior and exterior is a beauty to behold.
