We had the hotel in this area because it's the more interesting area in Melaka full of activities and things to see.
Almost everything can be reached in 10-15 minutes walking.
Apart from some very small areas which are quite touristic. All the rest in authentic.

The Chinatown of Melaka is basically the north bank of the River Melaka after crossing the Tan Kim Seng Bridge from Dutch Square. As Chinatown goes, this is pretty typical, but the authenticity of this one is without question and the number of good eateries is as good as you’re ever going to get. Many of the attractions in Melaka are also in the Chinatown area, especially the more local/cultural museums. This place should be on every itinerary for Melaka.

Accessible from the Jonker Street area and across a bridge from River Walk - in my opinion a lot more going on than Jonker Street - usual stalls with not all China made goods - we visited during the day and did not try any food as we had lunch elsewhere

We bought Char Kway Teow at the night market stall. This stall aunty was very rude. Moreover, the taste really very lousy. Worst Char Kway Teow we had ever tried. The dim sum also very bad not nice at all. We were very disappointed with the food...

Definitely get off of Jonker street, and walk the streets adjacent and crossing, as they are peaceful, with wonderful old architecture and a nice simple way of life for the residents. Great little Chinese Temples everywhere.
