Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As other reviewers have commented, this place is confusing. There’s not much to see here and I’m not clear how the items here are related to the world heritage aspect of Mekala. The park is largely a paved area with some plants and statues. The centre of the park is dominated by an oversized sculpture of Malaysian bodybuilder, Gan Boon Leong. It’s an okay place to visit especially on a weekday without the crowds, but I just don’t know what this place is supposed to be.

Interesting place with lots of item being sold. Some foods are quite good, some are overpriced. Not a place to get cheap and nice foods.

Came here to organize an event on the Jonker Walk stage and the surrounding areas. The road leading to this park was actually filled with small restaurants / cafes / lounges / etc. Hence, it's filled with tourists, both local and foreign. During the day, it's bustling with all forms of land transportation that can fit the road. It's not a covered area.

What was this place? It's name conjured something quite impressive in my mind - a must-see. It barely constitutes a park, or if it does, it's tiny. It contains a bodybuilding statue and very few plants or trees.

We toured here a few days ago and we're underwhelmed. Saint Peter's Church will be of interest to Catholic travellers and it is the focal point for a huge annual celebration in June. Jonker Walk gained special status as a cultural heritage site in 2010 mostly because of its architectural links to the Portuguese era, but we experienced it as an unremarkable jumble of small traders and local food outlets. It was a 4 hour return road trip out of Kuala Lumpur, for not a lot of learning, new sights, or value. Consider your alternatives ;)

Although I am not a fan of high humidity, this was a nice walk and plenty to explore and nice areas to take pictures.

Chanced upon the place as I was traipsing around Jonker Walk. Good place with spots aplenty for clicks & selfies.

Although I am not a fan of high humidity, this was a nice walk and plenty to explore and nice areas to take pictures. A place where you can get the knowledge of the Malacca's mix culture and you will understand its a Heritage to be cherished.
