- Himanshu C1 contributionCalangute how will you be forgottenThe fun that can be had on the banks of this sea is nowhere else, in this sea you will get everything, peace, tranquility as well as entertainment. Those views of uncle getting massage on the sand dunes 😂and the sunset give a different feeling of joy in this sea. can never forget the sea..Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 November 2023
- Nigel W3 contributionsCalangute beach and resort stayIn November this resort is very popular with Indians, especially for their weekend breaks . The local hotels, resort and beach on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays will be packed and noisy. However, the weather is hot and sunny, the sea is warm and the beach has lovely to sand to walk on . We found that if you walk to the right hand side of the main beach for 2km you will find a quieter section to relax on . If you go to the left hand side it will be packed and Europeans are in the minority so expect to be harassed by the younger Indians and Hawkers.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 December 2023

By the time I reached there around 3:30 PM, it was quite crowded. If one wishes, one can go for various water sport activities like water skiing. Quite a few restaurants are there on the beach selling various delicacies and liquor. Beach chairs are available for rent.Visited December 2023Travelled soloWritten 15 December 2023
- MuzamilSrinagar, India11 contributionsAmazing beach in north goaOne of the best beaches in north Goa. The beach is cleanest and view of the stretch is amazing. The beach is usually crowded at main market Calangute. I suggest to stay at within 1km from main market to enjoy peaceful and amazing view pf the beach.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 February 2024
- RahulMKBengaluru, India106 contributionsGood place to visitVery busy during the day time, lot of places to shop. In the evening there are a lot of shacks for parties and dinners. The music can be very loud till about 10-11. It was a different experience. If you walk towards baga beach, you will find a small strip of beach which is less crowded.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 17 February 2024

The beach closed for swimming, there's no water sports activities and most cafes are shut. The overall retail area of Calangute is pretty basic and dirty.Visited June 2024Travelled soloWritten 1 July 2024
- Honest traveller 2024Australia3 contributionsRecommend this beach for family timeLives upto the hype Is crowded because its close to main markets which for me is a great bonus. You can enjoy beach and get good food close by. Halal food options are also available closeby for those seeking it. 2 paid toilets closeby which are 2 star cleanliness way, but atleast something. Its beautiful. Water is a bit dangerous and it had no swimming sign up when i visited.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 24 August 2024

Calangute is another popular and crowded beach with numerous shacks that offers various cuisines and drinks, the prices are by and large same at the shack. The beach is big with water sports options such as boating, water skiing & parasailing etc. Be it day or night, the beach is always crowded and lively, good place for enjoyment and hangout.

Nicely developed beach in North Goa and one of the most popular ones. Lots of crowd and water sport activities. Long beach and in fact is in continuity to another popular beach of Goa i.e. Baga beach. Reclining beach beds are in plenty but if you want to use one, you are expected to buy some drinks or food. The beach is children friendly and can be visited with families.

This place can be visited in evenings to enjoy the sun set moment & relax on shacks. Also one can enjoy all water sports at mid-range pricing. You have good options to chill at cafe & enjoy drinks with snacks.

This is NOT a beach to go to relax or sunbathe - I am not sure who uploaded these beautiful pictures of the beach but this is NOT the same beach that we witnessed recently.
If anyone has been to Puri beach in Orissa, this beach is a carbon copy of it. It is a very busy, dirty, and loud beach. The beach goers are primarily Indian men and fully clothed women taking their children into the surf. It is not a place where one would feel comfortable in a bathing suit or any kind of beach wear.
Again - I wanted to write this review to warn beach goers who might think this is a lovely beach to relax at - if you want that, head to South Goa and the beaches there. This beach is not the place to go.

Calangute Beach was overcrowded but seeing the sunset was an absolutely amazing experience. There are lots of shacks on the beach but these are slightly expensive. They are the ones who have provided good seating arrangements for you to enjoy the view.

Calungute Beach offers a wonderful diversity. It offers great swimming, boat rides and numerous beach shacks with refreshments and good wifi. I enjoyed the beach walks and seeing families (and kids), couples and groups of friends having a very good time.

Everywhere you go in India is very crowded and Calangute beach is no exception. Lots of people, not all there for the beach, but that said there’s plenty of water sports to enjoy and beach shacks offering food and drinks, not always good value for money. Not really for the less young

We visited the beach at dinner time (9 pm) and it looked like a pub with neon lit cabanas and blaring music. The pathetic thing was that there were three different venues close by playing different loud music. So it really hurt our ears. We didn't stay even for 2 minutes and left the beach. Avoid it at night.

Hi, I've heard a lot about the fact, that most of the beaches in GOA are extremely dirty, with broken glass and litter everywhere, as people drink heavily there and its not safe also.
That bad opinions impacted seriously GOA in terms of tourists numbers (both domestic! And international), which declined seriously.
BUT in 2019 - at the end, special agency started to work and maintain clearance of beaches in order to improve GOA picture and react on serious tourists drop. (Karnataka Commercial and Industrial Pvt Ltd)
SO - WHAT is the situation in GOA now? Can you guys, who visited that part of India in Dec 2019, Jan, Feb 2020 tell me and share your experience?
I know its India, no doubt, but is it really so dirty as even official agencies admit it as real problem?

Sorry, I’ve only just seen this question.
I can recommend Somy Resort hotel. It’s very well located and is being modernised. The room we had was super with good air con, and a lovely bathroom (You definitely wouldn’t want one of the older rooms).
We loved Calangute beach but were told to steer clear of Bagga?
India is a bit of a culture shock though.
