My recommendation for you is to pack lots of water, food, and a great quality set of binoculars. If you're a hiker, brave the overgrown trailhead for the Nature Trail. Then take the Wildlife Drive slowly with the windows open. Stop at the observation towers...More

We visited the refuge in late July and the water lilies and American lotus were in full bloom and lovely. Bring binoculars, and bird and plant ID books.

Has Gators and many Water fowl as well as natural predators. some swamp and Canebrakes. Nice view. Need four wheeler or an ATV to really see it.
