Visiting Recife, you cannot miss its newest attraction, the modern and beautiful "Museu Cais do Sertão"! At a walking distance from "Praça do Marco Zero", at the "Recife Antigo" quarter, it honors the culture, traditions and history of the "sertanejos". These men, women and children - the so called "sertanejos" - living in the remotest areas of the region (the "sertão"), facing long dry seasons and adverse conditions, bravely resist. "Museu Cais do Sertão", through its museography project, brings freshness and modernity to Recife. A visit to this museum will certainly help the understanding of the Brazilian Northeastern region and its people. Unmissable! Enjoy!

This museum was opened in 2014 and is part of the old harbour rejuvenation project. It boasts many interactive displays and makes the recent history of the Sertao, an area sadly underrepresented in the Brazilian mindset, come alive. Well worth a visit.

A great place to learn about Brazilian culture and music. Lot's of interactive displays and samples of music showing how it evolved over the years. Sometimes there is live music being played in reception.
Be aware that all the information is in Portuguese but there were some staff that spoke English and could translate the basics if needed.
Free entrance on Tuesdays.

I went to this hotel when I needed to go to the USA Consulate in Recife. It is a new and clean hotel. Nice restaurant. Helpful staff. The room is confortable, but the bathroom was somehow old. But very clean.

Great place to visit and learn more about the sertão (inlands), its people, customs and landscape. They play a very beautiful movie worth watching. Don't miss it.

Modern museun, with a comprehensive collection ranging from pieces from craftsmanship to the music of the region. Interesting instalations like the echo tunnel and the karaokes booth were your here all the brazilian northeastern instruments like "sanfona and zabumba" and s. There are examples of traditional houses and furniture. Almost all instalations have some kind of interation making "Cais do Sertão" museun a world class equipment.

Located in the heart of Recife Antigo, the Cais do Sertão Museum presents traditional aspects of the countryside everyday life in the northeast of Brazil. The life of Luiz Gonzaga, a famous regional musician and singer, works as a backbone to the main exhibition.

Boa noite. Depende do ritmo e de seu interesse no assunto. Pode ir de 30 minutos a até umas 2 horas. Mas 1 hora é um bom tempo a se passar lá.
