It's no longer a race course

Don't visit thinking you will be able to see horse racing as depicted in some Hindu movies starring Dev Anand ( was it Jewel thief or Great Gambler). I was lucky to visit this... read more

Historically this used to be the world's highest and smallest race course. The race course was established along with the Lebong Cantonment in 1882 and has housed various British Army Regiments within its garrison. On a clear day the racecourse gives you a splendid view of Mt Kanchenjunga, and in my opinion its among the best view in entire Darjeeling.... More

In colonial times, pre 1947, this was a the highest horse racing track in the world. However, it is no longer in use and is home to the Indian Army.

Don't visit thinking you will be able to see horse racing as depicted in some Hindu movies starring Dev Anand ( was it Jewel thief or Great Gambler). I was lucky to visit this place as I am a doctor attached to ECHS the ex army health scheme. This place is now occupied by the Indian Army and where once... More

The Lebong race course is inside the cantonment - you can't get to it as a casual visitor. It should not be listed as an 'attraction' on Tripadvisor.

This is situated on the outskirts of Darjeeling, after Tenzing Rock and the tea gardens. Used to be a racecourse once but now controlled by Army and civilians are not allowed. Lovely location though

Why this place is even in the list? It should be removed from "Things to do" in Darjeeling. The place is now owned by Army and not a race course anymore. Only you will love the scenic view around. Also on the way, you can stop by to Tenzing rock and Refuzi camp.

The tour operators have included a place which is owned by army and the entry is restricted to civilians. As such there is no race course now and the ground is used by the army for their operational activities. The race course can be seen from nearby tea estate which is included in 7 point and mixed point packages. It... More

housing the highest race course in Asia, a visit to darjeeling is incomplete without a trip to the lebong race course. one needs permission from the army to enter this place. though the race course itself is non-functional, the look of it is enchanting. what one could do is have a visit from the close-by road near the tea gardens...
