If you are on holiday here and interested in the Buddhist faith then this monastery is well worth a visit. It is one of the few where you can take photos inside, if you buy a permit. Well worth the 100 rupee charge.
Its one of the Oldest Monastery in Darjeeling. But if you are travelling from Sikkim (Namchi and Peeling) you may not feel to visit the monastery. This monastery is not maintained very well. It has less facillities for the travellers. Washrooms are the worst.

Located in Ghoom. Falls in the Tiger Hill route. Famous for its Hollywood devotees. Dark and gloomy inside. Enormous prayer wheels. Wonderful statues inside. The smell of insence and the overall ambience takes you away from the bad roads.Good for cyclists.
