Description:

The Happy Valley Tea Estate caresses the misty hills of Darjeeling,...

The Happy Valley Tea Estate caresses the misty hills of Darjeeling, overlooking the fertile Himalayan foothills. Established in 1854, its history is closely entwined with the origins and cultivation of Darjeeling tea. This garden, located in the town of Darjeeling, is home to spectacularly lush fields, endowed with a natural, breath taking charm. At Happy Valley respect for nature is expressed through the organic and bio-dynamic method of farming.

Happy Valley invites you to immerse yourself in the culture, history and tradition of the region by witnessing the process by which fresh tea leaves are withered, rolled, fermented, dried, sorted and graded to produce a variety of teas; the traditional black tea, green tea and the exquisite speciality teas.

A guided tour of the Happy Valley tea factory offers visitors a glimpse of the fascinating process of manufacturing tea. The tea tasting session, curated for first-timers, is conducted at the end of the tour, where one can discover the legendary flavour of Happy Valley organic Darjeeling teas.

Happy Valley teas are available in retail packs at the factory boutique for sale.

It is one of the biggest Tea estates situated in heart of Darjeeling. Almost all tourist packages in Darjeeling will cover a visit to this Tea estate.

We had a great morning being taken around the factory and plantation by our wonderful guide. We learnt a lot about the process behind making tea (which was fascinating) and got to sample some at the end. In season we'd have also seen the factory at work, but alas we were a month too early for the first flush (tea... More

Very informative tour of the factory with history, origins and processes of tea making explained. The tour guide spoke English well, and was friendly. For only 100 rupees the tour was well worth it with a tea tasting provided at the end.

Great free activity where you not only learn about, and see, the mechanics of making tea, and especially Darjeeling Tea. We were only mildly interested in tea, but our friend from India insisted on this visit, so we complied. It ended up being a highlight of the area. You get an initial short introduction to tea making and processing, and... More
