This museum reminisces the past expeditions and contains the stuffs used by the great climbers. This place takes you back to the time when mankind wanted to conquer the odds with limited facilities.

Has to be seen to experience the history
Apr. 2019
The photographs on display, together with the items of clothing and the primitive tools used in early expeditions, really hits home as to how hard it was for these early pioneers of conquering Everest

Good displays at this museum
Apr. 2019 • Family
It's a museum with lots of items on display relating to climbing and of course the Mount Everest. Take your time to observe the articles kept there and you can read a lot about the climbing history of the Mt Everest. It's located inside the zoo premises and worth paying a visit to this museum when there. It is a very well maintained museum.

Fascinating
Oct. 2018 • Couples
The museum is very well arranged, with a series of displays showing how mountaineering equipment has changed since the days of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. It really is amazing to think that Everest was conquered using such basic equipment. We were feeling the lack of oxygen at 7000 feet in Darjeeling. It made us very contemplative of the whole Everest climb.
Well worth a visit, the only disappointment was not being allowed o take photos.

Mountaineering Institute
Jul. 2018 • Couples
While going round this place you can see Sir edmund Hillary statue and memorium of head of institute , Sherpa Tenzing. What a variety of gadgets used while exploring Himalyas.
You can also have demo by self climbing. There is a model covering Shivalik range with height of each peak.
