Not even worth to spend 2 hours even if its free of charge. Its unbelievably expensive for viewing a load of rubbish, house kitchen & toilets, shop front and a dirty town...

It is interesting that even today some narrow gauge steam engines are working. And such steam engines are used for the round trip ride from Darjeeling to Ghoom via Batasia Loop. The train line gauge width is just 2 feet!. The train and these steam engines are real beauty and you will love the train and the journey. Make sure... More

The toy train is definitely a must experience. Though i agree that the price is a bit on the higher side and if the weather is not clear then you may not be able to see the lovely views of Kanchenjunga......but never the less its always a great feeling to ride the steam engine when it chugs its way through... This two compartment loco coal engine chugs it way in the small streets of Darjeeling along with other vehicles and. Humanbeings. Round trip takes around 2 hours and you can relish the nature in a relaxed manner. Don't miss it

Took the Toy Train one way. It was an overcast day so we did not see much view. The trip itself was nothing special. You are better of driving a car or taking a taxi along the route. You will see more. Plus, the train is extremely noisy. It is a steam engine fired by coal. It make an incredible... More

I don't know how this train is still functional. It's nothing but a rip off and that to to just see nothing but buildings, dirt, filth and crowded areas with cars almost throughout with the engine driver's shrill most irritating whistle giving company. There is absolutely NO view at all. The only 10 good minutes are when the train enters... More

We took the steam engine ride from Darjeeling to Ghoom and back. Lots of pollution due to steam engine. I think they should convert it to electric. Also, it is quite expensive. Also, the overall coordination at the railway station is not good, no indicators.

The toy train was amazing, winding it's way up the Himalayan foothills, through villages, across roads. Not many stops so make sure u have your food for the day, bit sticky about time and keeping to schedule. Don't be put off when you see the mayhem of jeeps in Darjeeling, head up to the square, peaceful and great walks. Enjoy... More

Riding the Toy Train of Darjeeling Himalayan Railways (DHR) has always remained a coveted experience to the tourists. Only few would let go such an opportunity. Toy train joy rides operate from Darjeeling Railway Station. It's a 2-hour round trip from Darjeeling up to Ghum and back covering a total distance of 14kms. There are four such round trips in... Must visit for the first timers. No need to to repeat. They are trying their best but need to a lot hard work to keep this going. Stick to the time is a big issue and cancellation of trains is frequent.
