Requires a lot of climbing in different directions but smooth and worthwhile. Many rare species well kept.. require around 2 hours but closes early. Good eatery also inside

Find Himalayan species
Nov. 2021
It is a small yet well-maintained zoo. It has a host of animals of Himalayan origin. Some of them would be hard to find in other zoological gardens. Red Panda has to be the main attraction here. It has a good collection of birds from different parts of the world as well. It has snow leopard, common leopard, black panther, Himalayan bear, Royal Bengal tiger too.

Zoo to see some rare species
Oct. 2021
You can see black panther, snow-tiger etc. Not a place to spend lots of time if you have already visited some other zoos in the past. Don't let your guide excite you about this place, you may find it boring and tiring at times.

Wonderful and Informative Zoo and Himalayan Mountaineering Institute.
Oct. 2021 • Friends
You get to see high altitude animals in natural surroundings in this zoo. Most of these animals like Red Panda are exclusive to this zoo.. in addition one can visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute located with in this zoo. In this Institute one gets to know about various Everest expeditions and instruments / clothing etc used. Information about Himalaya from Karakoram to Arunachal. There is Samadhi of Tensing Norgay in front of this institute.

This is a must visit place. Highly recommended.

Well designed and maintained

Amazing to see a well maintained zoo in mountains. Designed in a way to keep the natural habitat of animals intact. Must visit, also there are some mountaineering activities and a museum as well.

Must visit if you are a nature lover
Feb. 2021
This is the place where you not only have the zoo but also the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. I especially liked their red panda breeding program and snow lion breeding program. Excelent place to be in.

Must visit in your Darjeeling Trip
Jan. 2021
Darjeeling Trip is practically incomplete without a visit to the zoo, especially if you are travelling with kids. The best attraction is no doubt the red panda. Its an absolute delight to spot these cute creatures in their enclosures. There are colorful birds in the aviary. The Tiger and Snow leopard is also an added attraction.
This time we found that the security was checking that everyone wears a mask. There was no check on total people entering, which should be controlled during this time.

Must visit during visit to Darjeeling
Apr. 2021 • Friends
The zoo is well maintained with happy animals and staff. It's a small zoo, with limited animals and birds, but certainly worth visiting if you are in Darjeeling. They have some rare animals and birds on display.

Waste of time and energy
Mar. 2021 • Couples
This place is just a waste of time, nothing special , it is just a ordinary small zoo . Even kids will not enjoy this. Also it is too steep to walk around.avoidable.
