Tranquil & secluded
Dec. 2019 • Family
Little village Suntalekhola situated at the lap of the hill & named after the river suntaley which is flowing beside it. This place is situated further north of Samsing & most part of the uphill road is passing through dense conifers jungle with scattered habitation at the rest and road condition for last 1-2 miles is very poor where literally had to pass over the bumpy boulders.

The place is calm & quiet with lot of greeneries every where. Tiny river 'suntaley' seen aside with little water flowing on its rocky bed & may be it gets a different look during rains. WBFDC Tourists Lodge, Suntalekhola is situated other side of the river & is connected by a little hanging bridge. As seen, one other lodge is being built up and a few home stay like facility is there. Nothing more.

It is just about 20 minutes journey from Samsing and another 1hour seems adequate to have a glimpse on the spot, take few snaps & feel the touch of virgin nature as still is there.

A Quaint Nook
Oct. 2018 • Family
This place was our first visit and it was about 40 mins from the resort where we had put up in Gorumara. It is basically a small stream between the surrounding mountains . One can sit on the boulders and soak their feet in the stream which is shallow. The water is not cold and the water flow is not here is mild so there is no danger of getting swept away only one has to be careful not to slip and fall as the rocks and boulders are slippery due to moss . There is a small quaint hanging bridge over the stream which sways as one walks over it. The bridge is an addition to the charm of the place.

Another world

A hidden gem beside a small stream called Suntalekhola or stream of Orange. Peaceful and secluded place in the lap of nature. Staying options are cottages and tents. A short trek to Mouchuki is a lifetime experience. Near by village Samsing is also an attractive place for the nature lovers.

Hanging Bridge
Apr. 2018 • Family
The highlight of Suntalekhola is the hanging bridge built over a small stream. Apart from those who have a booking in the WBFDC resort, there are day visitors as well. Its good to spend an hour or so here. We went from Lataguri and it took a little more than an hour. There is a point after Samsing beyond which your car won't be allowed and the locals would suggest their cars at 400-500. But it is just a kilometer walk and its worth the walk. I returned to this place after 15 years only to find that more people come here than those days. Nothing much has changed.

Missed five stars only because it is slightly dated- and they can easily change that.

It's difficult to find this place but it's worth the wait. It's a West Bengal govt homestay, that's the filter we look at it through- and it makes the mark. It's a beautiful property with eight little cottages in a the midst of a garden. Peaceful and isolated, the evenings echo with rare birds and insects. Very clean, the rooms are surprisingly devoid of insects. I believe it could be maintained better since some of the sheets were stained the day we came in. The place by itself needs some maintaining but by no means is it dirty- the furniture is getting dated, walls need painting etc. The housekeeping is very efficient as well. The people running the place could teach the hospitality industry a thing or two. They're amazing people, attending to your needs, making fresh food everyday from Local produce. The food is amazing, competitively priced, served as and when you like it. We tried thukpa, delicious with tomato and garlic. The chowmein was amazing and so were the Bengali meals.

Foods are average but Mr.Bishnu Ji(cook) is very polite and always ready to make your choicable dishes.
The silence , the nature and 4 local places like: Rock Island, Neura valey dam canel, shiva mandir , And the Samsing village, MandalGau is really very nice. You can enjoy your day there. And local cab will take near about 1300INR .

Honeymoon in Natural Setting.
Dec. 2016 • Couples
We went there in first week of December 2014. It was the first destination on our honeymoon.

We were happy to be in a secluded yet secure natural setting. It is a tiny hamlet in the midst of greenery. Just be yourself n enjoy being close to nature in the company of flowers, tress, birds and magical sound of rivulet while you sleep in your tent at night.

The WBFDC river camp where we stayed was well maintained. Rooms were neat n the bathrooms were ultra clean with all modern facilities.

Food provided was basic but freshly cooked n tasty. There's facility for camp fire as well.

The place is good for couples looking to spend some quality time. Go for village walk n experience the life there. It was fun.

Rocky island is nearby n other destinations in dooars can be covered as a day trip from here.

New Mal Jn is the nearest Railway Station from this place. Taking a 🚕 taxi from here will cost less and will also save time than taking from NJP.
