This expansive beach is Chennai's most famous tourist attraction, though the undercurrent is too strong for all but the strongest swimmers. Look out for the "Kannagi" statue on Marina Beach, which tells the story of the legendary character from a South Indian epic.

The beach is quiet and calm.It is the longest beach.Nearby there is a jayalalitha samadhi. In evening all the shops are there for shopping which include seashells and food.Due to seafood available at large scale near beach the beach has a fishy smell.

It is a nice place to visit during the evenings. Specially on the north side of the beach, where all the shops are open then. I highly recommend to taste the cooked peanuts with masala!

1. It's the Juhu beach of Mumbai but a 100 times cleaner. 2. Disciplined crowd 3. The road connecting it looks like a road equivalent to one in Switzerland! 4. Just outside , there is a circle where people skate. 5. Really safe, for everyone,...More

With the second largest beach line, this one is a not to miss experience. The sand quality and water was clean. Though in August the crowd was pretty less and also found less amenities. Could be developed as a much bigger tourist attraction,.
