This expansive beach is Chennai's most famous tourist attraction, though the undercurrent is too strong for all but the strongest swimmers. Look out for the "Kannagi" statue on Marina Beach, which tells the story of the legendary character from a South Indian epic.

Visited Marina beach, this is longest beach, I have seen so far, had around 1 hr walk at beach, everything good except cleaniness. This beach can be developed in to one of the best beaches in world.

The title sounded fab - but a bit disappointing. One end is very dirty with lots of litter - better once past the fishing boats. Lots of little stalls selling food. I went during the day and it was pretty deserted - not the kind...More

Marina is one of the biggest beaches in chennai with a massive coast line. You'll never find this place empty. It's quite a walk to get to the water as the sand area is quite big and walking is obviously not as smooth on sand....More

Give the Marina beach a miss unless if you want to wade through piles of trash, tip-toe about broken glass or soak into really polluted water. Marina beach is a sad representation of the beautiful city of Chennai and while the potential for the beach...More

This beach is disgusting. It is covered in trash and worse. Go south to places like Ideal Beach which are clean.

The major natural attraction of Chennai is the long and wide Marina beach which continues to be as popular as ever. Very accessible from anywhere in the city. Parking facilities, lawns and eateries provide the facilities. Very good for morning walks or evening outings.

This is a long, flat beach, very popular with local people in the late afternoon. Not a lot to see except for street food stalls. Be prepared for a long walk to the edge of the sea.

There are buses which will drop you near Marina beach. Depends from where you want to board the bus. In future, please post your questions in English - there are many people who may not know Hindi.
