Galtaji Temple, Jaipur A pre-historic Hindu pilgrimage site, the Galtaji Temple, is located only 10km away from Jaipur. One of the jewels of Jaipur, the temple complex encompasses natural fresh water springs and 7 holy 'kunds' or water tanks. Among these kunds, the 'Galta Kund', is the holiest one and is believed to never get dry.

The history to the temple is more interesting than the place itself. Untidy, dirty and badly kept. The real attraction is the monkeys that live on the premises. Interesting sight for a few minutes, but a long drive getting there. If you skip it, no great loss.

The Galta Devi temple and gorge is a place made famous in the Discovery Channel series on Monkey Theives of Jaipur, called the Galta Gang. One can spend a day clicking the primates and their antics. A photographers delight.

My family and I visited the Galtaji Temple complex in last July, the sky was overcast and the weather was cool and pleasant when we visited, which made us enjoy the beautiful Galtaji temple complex even more. There was a bit of drizzling but that made our experience even better. Galtaji is about 10 kilometers from Jaipur town with a... More

Dirty, smelly, poorly kept. Pigs roaming around all along the path to the temple, temple keepers shamelessly demand "gifts"

I have visited here three times; every time I come to Jaipur I HAVE to come here. The temple complex is huge, carved into the rock, and centers around the holy water (some say that the water springs from the moutain and no one has been able to find the source) and the image of Hanuman Ji which appeared in... As an Indian from abroad, i feel 2 ways; as a temple it is great place but if i rate it for tourists, this place is completely dirty and filthy. There were people bathing in dirty water. The main "Kund" had plastic bags in it which is claimed to be there with the magic of Lord Gattaji and the priests... More

Ok, monkeys are cool, and they do run around here in quantity. There are a series of pools (one for men, one for women, one for monkeys) and two temples, one at the bottom of the hill and the Sun temple at the top of the mountain. I visited the bottom temple (which my tuktuk driver called "the real one... More
