If you are traveling from the airport to anywhere near the gateway of India I would recommend taking this route. It is faster but also very amazing to see.

The sealink and bridge are not only aesthetically pleasing, but they also have added considerable efficiency to the city. The elliptical curve of the journey as you loop around the bay also has a pleasant quality to it.

Want to see Mumbai from the middle of sea. Go there. Those in Mumbai for the first time, must visit the bridge if you are going from Worli to Bandra or going to donw town from western suburb. Foreign tourist can avoid.
