Pretty nice place to visit with family. Avoid vising on weekends and holidays. Temples are very nice. This place is very famous for Puliyogare. One must visit Yoganarasimha Temple, Cheluvnarayan Swamy temple and Rayagopura. There are two ponds near Raygopura which are getting renovated.

A small temple town that is about 3 hours drive away from Bangalore. Ideal for a day visit. That is Melkote (or Melukote) for me. Apart from being popular for the two temples, it is also famous for Puliyogare - a rice preparation that is also known as Tamarind rice. The town has two famous temples Cheluvanarayana Swamy Temple and... More

We visited this place after a lot of reviews that we heard. One needs to climb a top a small hill to reach the peak, but it is worth the climb, The view is great and one feels the chill air hitting as one climbs. Amazing for nature lovers.

For me and my family, the visit to Melkote was a spiritual affair. It was at Melkote that our spiritual guru, Ramanujacharya, st up base and spread the Vaishnav religion under the patronage of a Shaivaite King! Such was his kindness and spiritual energy. Melkote is en route from Mysore to Bengaluru. The entire area is surrounded by hills and... More

It is temple on top of a small Hill. You have to climb some 200 steps to reach. Vehicle can go upto half way only. Small Temple town, Parking becomes problem at time of rush, else it is good. Famous food is Puliogare made of rice which is best prepared at this place.
