This monument was constructed in honour of the Indian soldiers who lost their lives fighting for the British in the World war. The names of the soldiers is inscribed in the wall of India Gate. This place has a "Amar Jawan Jyoti" which is burnt non stop from long time in the honour of our soldiers.

Had gone here when I was visiting Delhi with family. The best time to go is in the week in the morning . It's a quite place then away from the hustle bustle.

Nice history around the gate but also nice area and very close to Presidential palace. Please avoid the lady who will jump on you with a sticker of the Indian flag.. apparently she'll ask for money for donation but actually will keep the money in her pocket... locals informed me! So watch out!

Indians and those with indian origins are sure to feel patriotic standing in front of India Gate and looking at the "Amar jawan jyoti ".It reminds of the sacrifices of our soldiers who sacrificed their lives for us. From here you can catch a view of the Rastrapati Bhavan (president's house) too and the long green lawns on both sides... More
