It’s a little museum built by the Japanese (if I recall correctly) with a video about Sygiriya that you can watch in several languages and some artefacts from the site. Intended as an introduction to your visit, it won’t necessarily teach you something you can’t...More

Pretty basic museum but does a good job of detailing the history of Lion Rock. Well worth checking out while you're there.

The Sigiri museum provides useful information and models of the site. This is necessary as there is no signage at the site itself. The curators at the Sigiriya Museum have done a great enclosing prehistoric details as well as exhibits that tell the interesting story...More

The Sigiriya museum is included in the price of your ticket. It is worth a visit after climbing the rock to provide context and perspective, but don't expect a state of the art display.

It is overshadowed by the Citadel at Sigiriya, but it's still worth a look. There's some interesting stuff in there. Besides, if you have paid for the ticket, you already paid for it.

A great way to finish off a visit to Lion Rock and included in the ticket price anyway. Some interesting artefacts and a great overview model of Lion Rock.

After the walk up the Lion Rock we went to the museum. Our expectations weren’t that high because of our experience, but after the section with photos of different stages of the mountain there was actually a pretty nice section with al sorts of pottery,...More

This is museum is mainly visited as it's the start of the UNESCO World Heritage site, and as we were on a private tour I'm unsure of the actual entrance fee (which also covers the Citadel of Sigiriya/Lion Rock). Assuming it is the standard, we...More
