We visited upon advice of our local guide and were satisfied with the variety of items and the visit of the atelier. However when it comes tu purchase bigger items, don t trust the salesman and the manager. We hesitated between carrying a mid size Wooden elephant with us or ship it via cargo as they presented this as a common practice they organised everyday with a professional carrier. The price was supposed to be all costs included , I raised the question explicitly and a split between the elephant (305euros) and the transport (205 euros) was written on the invoice. A few months later (delay because of Covid ) came the big disappointment: an extra of 298 euros was required for the delivery of the elephant, for taxes and port costs etc. Response of the contact person at Oakwood: this is out of our control While they must have known and lied when I asked about it. and even if the tax amount is indeed out of control , they must know also this is not just a small extra . But the funniest part? We opted for cargo and not self carriage to make sure the elephant would arrive well .... and after having paid over 500 euros, 165 percentage of the price of the item itself, in transport costs he arrived with small barsts and a broken foot! So shop their but carry with yourself !!

A truly impressive place to visit, they gave us a warm welcome and tour of the factory. If you like anything wooden it is really a place to see what some passionate craftsman can do in creating small and large impressive ornaments and furniture that will amaze and impress anyone. We ended up buying a coffee table which we had shipped back to the UK and has now become a centre piece in our living room, we love it and it has been well admired by friends. So pleased we went to Oak Ray as it wasn't somewhere we had thought of going to when we set up our original itinerary .

Though it took quite a while to receive this bespoke sideboard- shipped to the Algarve, Portugal, after our visit in Feb 2019 ,we are delighted with the result. So glad we made this purchase and would encourage others to do likewise and support the country’s economy. The store itself is amazing- a treasure trove of wooden creations and well worth a visit.

Visited whilst on holiday in Sri Lanka. We ordered a one off design of the Sri Lankan lion after discussion. We also ordered two wall hangings to be sent. We bought a small elephant which we were very pleased with so when we got home ordered one the same size but different which was added to the parcel sent. All arrived safely and quickly. We had only seen the lion on a drawing and he is magnificent and we are very pleased. The service and assistance with order has been very satisfactory. Perhaps it is good that we do not live closer as would buy more items as of high quality. Would recommend for a visit.

While on holiday in Sri Lanka in August 2018 our driver took us to this place and we were subjected to the usual over-attentive sales people. However, we decide to buy a teak cabinet, made from scratch, to our own specifications. They duly made one which was oversized for the specific space in our house so they had to make another one to the specifications we gave them. It is now 15 months later and although it is now in the port of Barcelona - apparently - and we have yet to have it delivered. Secondly, the sales manager assured us that we would only have to pay local transport charges from the port to our home. This was total BS. The shipping agent sent us a bill for a wopping 600 Euros for taxes, local handling charges etc etc etc. Had we known this we wouldn't have gone ahead with it. Overall, it has been a highly frustrating and stressful business and I would advise anyone and everyone absolutely NOT to buy furniture that needs to be shipped.
