Unfortunately the stairs all the way to the top weren't open but got some great views of Kandy all the same. Statue looks and feels relatively new, wasn't busy at all, we were the only people there apart from some stray dogs! We got a tuk tuk up there for about 1000 rupee return (about five pounds) from the Temple... More

If you are planning to visit this place I recommend you to go in the night times. You would be able to see the lights of the whole beautiful Kandy city with the beautiful view of Dalanda Maligawa.

For me after the temple of the tooth this is a monument number two in Kandy. You can have a nice steep walk up the hill to deserve to see the beautiful view over the Kandy city. Once you get there you can even climb higher on the statue of Buddha and experience even greater 360 degrees outlook and see... More

The hill the Buddha sits on is a little steep but easy enough to walk up in 10 -15 mins. Shoulders and knees must be covered shoes removed. There is a guy at the bottom who will look after your shoes for a price, we put ours in our bag , costs 200 Rupees per person to go up .... More

it is just like the other Buddha Statue, serene and amazing. as a Buddist, it was calming, but some of the other members in the group were bored. If you have seen one, its almost like you have seen it all

We could see this Buddha from our hotel room so naturally wanted to see it up close and wow!! its easy to get to from anywhere in Kandy - just walk towards it. And I would definitely recommend climbing in the evening after sunset. The Buddha looks amazing when it's lit up and there was no one around! There was... More

It is worth a visit to this big buddha statue. It is an enormous creature and and is a very powerful place. You can walk up the statue and it delivers a stunning view over Kandy.

This beautiful large Buddha overlooks the town of Kandy. To get there, walk to the top of the hill, or take a TukTuk. Once at the top, you enter into the temple area and pay a small fee of $1.35 pp. On the main level, there is a Buddhist gift shop which sells Monk Bags and many other items. A... More

If you're panorama view lover, that's the place for you in Kandy. Chance to escape from the busy town and see it from peaceful place in other perspective. 200 LR entrance fee + cca 100 LR donation asked.
