The cemetery looked like a scene from a HarryPotter book/movie, and we enjoyed talking a walk between the big tombstones. We also enjoyed very much the unexpected visit from approximately 50 wild monkeys showing up from the forest, crossing the cemetery at the same time...More

Really interesting and informative talk by Charles (the caretaker) - who was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Just a short walk up the hill behind the National Museum and well worth it for a 30 minute detour

Glad we took the time to visit. It's small, and there was a huge number of monkeys there - so perhaps check if they are there as you go in if you are scared of them. A caretaker took us around and gave us a...More

This will only cost you a small tip to Charles the caretaker. An interesting insight into early colonial life. To me the most interesting grave is that of McGlashan, who fought with Wellington in Spain and also at Waterloo. Charles is a great guide and...More

Charles the caretaker gave us a short tour of the cemetery, his story telling was superb and he has done such a great job over the last 20 years in maintaining the area. We tipped him as this was a far more personal experience than...More

We visited here with some friends as part of our tour of Kandy. It is a very interesting and sad place with just a few gravestones but of people who had were survivors at the Battle of Waterloo in the 1817 the last burial was...More

Our guide brought us here, probably in part due to its proximity to the Temple of the Tooth. We met the groundskeeper who gave us a fantastic tour of the cemetery, telling us various stories about the history of the deceased. Well worth a visit!

Hi, I am not very sure which is the British Military Garrison you are referring to. I guess it goes by the name of 'Commonwealth War Graves Commission'. If yes the distance would be 6.8km. Please find the location... More
