Free entry, but the road to top is steep. No problem to find a right road, but you need minimum 30 minutes to reaching the top. In the centre of fortress is small museum it is free of charge. Best visiting time is before the sunset.

If you end up visiting Prizeren, this is must. This is the best part of the city and you will enjoy.

To get to the fort you must take 15 minute hike. Girls with hills can suffer uphill:). View from the top is very good, you can see parts of Albania and western Kosovo. Worth visiting

When I saw that Fortress, I couldn't believe that we are going to visit it and we will have to go there on foot. Getting there is quite demanding especially when the road is wet or slippery but when you are on the top of that summit, inside the ruins of Kalaja, the view on the whole city surrounded by... More

For travelers it's almost always the first thing we do when there's a castle or fortress on top of a mountain looking over the town. This one is no exception......just manage your expectations. The views over the city and surrounding area are beautiful and can be enjoyed any time of the year. The fortress itself is undergoing a multi-stage renovation... More

Steep walk up to castle but well worth it as the views are sensational. We are over 70 and had no trouble with the climb.

You can either get to the fortress by easily walking up from the centre of town or instead like my group chose to - you can go the long, more scenic route up the hill too. There were barely any other people that we saw going this way and it made for a lovely stroll before ascending to discover a... More

We were actually looking for the Kino Kalaja, one of the cinema spaces at DokuFest. I was amazed first with the position of the fortress (it's practically in the center of the city), a quick but steep way up there and definitely the view. To the city together with the river. See my photo, it says it all.

I came with friends in Winter the view is breathtaking but carefull with the walk till there. At least for us was quite hard because of the ice, we were young we could handle it, not easy with childs in winter maybe. But totally worth it.
